Week in Review

The kids were out of school Monday and Tuesday for Presidents Day.  We spent our 4-day weekend being lazy at home.  :o)

Tuesday:
Emily had her first taste of applesauce baby food.  She's been having a little bit of cereal since she was 6 weeks old.  We were trying to wait for her to be 3 months old to try baby food (Friday).  So I already had some and she REALLY wanted it (or maybe she was just tired of the cereal.)  So we tried and she loved it!!

Photos by Matthew  :o)

Wednesday:
The kids went back to school (and I got a lot of stuff done at the house, haha.)

Yes, Joshua decided that he likes strawberries!  And then 15 minutes later, brought me his half-eaten strawberry and said that he changed his mind.  :op

Thursday:

Yeah, so Thursday turned out to be a Snow Day for the kids.  I was kinda worried about having them home all day (again), but it turned out to be a really great indoors day.  After declaring video games off-limits (since it technically wasn't the weekend), they found lots of stuff to do.  :o)

They played Jr. Monopoly 3 times!

They entertained their sister.

And get this - they made her a TV out of a pampers box!

And whereas I drew knobs with numbers for channels on the TVs that I made growing up, they made her a remote to go with it.

Later that day we watched the space shuttle liftoff.  It was purdy awesome.

:o)

Saturday:
A friend of ours has a 13-month old daughter, so she passed along some clothes (and hats) for Emily.  Yay!

We did a lot of laundry and clothes drawers rearranging, and we made sure the house was ready (aka 'clean') for Chris' return -- which is in 3 DAYS!!

Before church Sunday

3 days and counting!  :o)

Ugh

So yep, it's snowing AND sticking.

Emily says: Bring it!

I find myself less than enthusiastic about it.  :op

Great

Snow, bleh. :op

Potpourri (Long post)

Sorry in advance for the long post.  It's been a long week with lots of stuff to share.  :o)

Evelyn and Matthew had colds last week, and it seems that no amount of Lysol or me repeatedly telling them, "Don't kiss the baby!" did any good.  :o\  Poor Emily has bronchiolitis.  However, she saw the doctor again on Thursday (4th time in a week) and the doctor said she's sounding much better.  She's going to be on breathing treatments every 4 hours for the next few weeks, but she's feeling so much better than she was.  :o)

Monday:
Couple of Valentine's Day follow-up pics:

Booger sent the kids a dozen cookies, packaged like flowers.  :o)

And haha, here is a list that Matthew brought home of things he loves:

Wednesday:
Evelyn had her First Communion Retreat on Wednesday.  She really enjoyed it and got to taste the unconsecrated bread and wine.  She said that she didn't like the wine though because it tasted like medicine!

Evelyn posing with the butterfly that she made
(the one on the very bottom)

Friday:
Um, Emily really likes cereal:

Joshua's latest weekly report:
Man, when are they going to reset his goal?!  Seriously.

And I found this paper:
I guess Evelyn's been practicing her cursive.  :o)

Saturday:
The kids had karate today since we didn't go on Monday.  Man, what a gorgeous day.

Mt. Rainier looked so much prettier than this pic

Too bad it was still about 40 degrees, so we couldn't have Emily hanging out at the park or anything, but it was still pretty.

I've never wanted to "wear" my baby, but our littlest midget has made getting anything done very difficult lately, soooooo.....

Yep, I think she likes it a little too much:

BUT, I was able to fold laundry for the first time in 4 days!  Woohoo!

We also went to church last night.  I learned that it does no good to nurse the baby in the back row of the church if there's a Baptism and the entire congregation is turned around FACING the back of the church.  I'm just sayin.  Haha, oh well.

And when we were leaving, Matthew asked if they were good in church today and Joshua says, "Of course we were good - We got two compliments!"  Nerds.  But yeah, they were awesome.  I was even able to leave them for a few minutes so I could go change Emily's diaper.  Yay!  :o)

Lastly, the kids and I are counting down.  Only 11 more days 'til Chris is home!  :o)

Kid Jeopardy

I was in the kitchen when I heard the following exchange in the living room:

Matthew:  It is time for Kid Jeopardy!  Our contestants today are
Joshua Nutt and Evelyn Nutt.  Joshua, you pick first.
Joshua:  I'll take Coins for $100.
Matthew:  What is the smallest coin?
Evelyn:  Wait, smallest amount or smallest coin?
Matthew:  Smallest coin.  Joshua?
Joshua:  A dime.  D-I-M-E
Matthew:  Right!  Pick again.
Joshua:  How about Games for $500.
Matthew:  Okay, what is my favorite video game?
Evelyn:  Cars!  C-A-R-S
Matthew:  Sorry, that's not right.  Joshua?

Yeah, so they went back and forth until Evelyn guessed his favorite game and spelled it correctly, which I guess is part of the rules.  I snuck a look at their "gameboard" (which was a grid drawn on a sheet of paper) and other categories included Sonic, Emily and Chips (?).  Haha, maybe I've been watching too much Jeopardy.  I didn't think they were paying that much attention.  :o)

Karate Videos

Here are the videos from the kids' Karate Testing this past Saturday.

Matthew's testing is pretty informal because he's in the youngest class.

The next video is of Joshua and Evelyn's testing.  The beginning is hard to see, but Joshua is the yellow belt on the right side of the screen.  Evelyn has an orange belt and is at the back of the 2nd column from the left.  You can pick her out when they turn around.  The other part of the video shows them demonstrating their defense techniques against different attacks. (If you click on the video while it's playing, you can watch it on youtube and make the screen bigger.)   :o)

:o)

I found this picture today while I was cleaning.  Evelyn made it for Chris for his birthday.  I knew she had made him a picture, but I never saw it because I was at the hospital with the baby on Thanksgiving.  Anyhow, I just wanted to share because I thought it was so cute.

My girl is so sweet. :o)

A Full Weekend

Friday:
We went to Claire's on Friday night and got Emily some new bling!

Evelyn was 6 weeks old when we got her ears pierced, so Emily's just a little bit older.  My poor baby.  She was mad before we ever started:

And she just got more pissed when I tried to hold her still for them to mark her ears with the marker:

Ten minutes later, she was much happier.

They don't seem to bother her at all now.   :o)

Saturday:
All three kids had Karate Testing on Saturday morning.  They test for higher belts every 3 months or so and advance 1/2 a belt each time.

Matthew is still in the Little Dragons class, so he doesn't test for colors yet.  He's currently a White Belt to the 4th degree and was testing for his 5th.

Evelyn and Joshua are in the same class.  Evelyn is currently an Orange Belt - Recommended and was testing for her full Orange Belt.

Joshua is a full Yellow Belt and was testing for his Green Belt - Recommended.

I also have some video of their testing techniques that I'll post soon.  They all did a great job.  We'll get the test results in a couple of weeks.  :o)

Oh - we were running a little behind on our way to karate.  Matthew tells me, "Mommy did you know that Daddy's truck can go fast?  Faster than this car.  It's because he put a fast engine in his truck, not like this engine."  Then Joshua pipes in, "Yeah, and Daddy goes over the speed limit.  He made it go up to 79!"

So two things I now know - the kids think I drive slow and Daddy's in trouble when he gets home.  ;o)

Sunday:
After church on Sunday, the kids came home and put their jerseys on for the Superbowl.

Representin my 'Boys

They really liked the Halftime show, which is all they really watched.  Matthew watched the game for a few minutes and after seeing Pittsburgh score said to me, "The Steelers steal.  Get it?  They STEAL because they're the STEAL-eers.  Get it?"  Haha, yes Matthew, that's right.

By the way - we spoke to Chris yesterday.  They're in California for 3 weeks of training and testing.  He's scheduled to return home around March 3rd.  :o)
