Crawdaddy

Hello!  Aww, yes, last week was very nice to us.  Well, apart from all that awful rain.  Bleh, that was just crazy.  But it didn't last long, the weather's been great since, and we had a wonderful week.

Monday:
Emily always wants to go get the kids from school.  She'll put on her hat and go sit in her car and call me, "Mama!  Mama!"  And then she says "kids" too.  Well, I'm not sure.  She says, "Kizz!" but I think that's the same thing. :o)
Yeah, she finds lots of ways to keep busy until they get home.

Joshua and I were studying on the floor and she just came over and laid on him.  Aww, she loves them so much.

The kids got some time to play outside before bedtime.  (Thank you daylight savings!)
Joshua ran around with his gang of nerf-gun-toting pals.  (Joshua's the one in the black shirt.)

Matthew was too far away for a pic, digging in the dirt again.  And Evie rode her scooter with her friends.  :o)  Later, Matthew came and told me, "Mommy, I was watching the ants, really close.  And did you know that if something falls on their anthill, they just start taking little tiny specks of dirt and building on top of it?!"  I asked him, "What did you put in the anthill?"  He smirked and said, "Just a really big leaf... but they're already covering it up!  Can I go watch some more?"  Haha, yes, Matthew, just don't get bit!  :o)

Tuesday:
Joshua's big test day!
4th Grade had to take the standardized LEAP Writing Test on Tuesday, so Matthew and Evelyn were out of school for the day.
"Mommy, you're going to make me egg-in-a-nest again, right?  Because I have to have a really healthy breakfast and my teacher said that Froot Loops don't count."  Haha, of course J.  He also requested some bacon, but I was all out.  Luckily, we stole lots of sausage from Aunt Bonny's wedding, so he was good to go.  :o)  He came home feeling very good about his essay, so we're confident that he did great.

Matthew's class has been studying Time and Calendars.  He made a 100 on his test on Tuesday, and brought it home for me to see.  I just thought his answer here was so cute.
What is your favorite day of the week? Saturday
Tell why it is your favorite:  There is no church.  There is no school.  I get to play video games.
Lol!  I bet his teacher got a kick out of that answer, nerd.  :o)

Emily learned another new word: Woah!
Haha.  Seriously.  She says it allll the time.  Every time something falls - Woah!  Every time she runs into something with her little train - Woah!  She was watching a Transformers movie with us, and every time there was a loud crash on it, she would turn around to me and say - Woah!  Lol!  And we all just laugh every time she says it because she's using it right and it just sounds so funny.  Woah!

Wednesday:
Well, Wednesday was supposed to be our really bad weather day, so of course, people were a little anxious.  First I got a call canceling Evie's cheerleading after school.  Then I got a call saying that all after-school activities were cancelled.  Then I got another call saying that they were closing school early and to come get your kids!  And it wasn't even raining yet! *sigh*
So yep, they were all home by noon.  The kids were very happy about this, haha.

Emily loved having the kids home early too.
And Joshua was happy to get his homework done before dinner.

Matthew used his extra time to craft a new Lego car wash.
And yeah, the storm came through, but we must've got lucky or something, because it rained really hard for 5 minutes and then there was just a bunch of thunder and lightning.  Oh well, the kids still went to church school and Joshua got a really good head start on his homework, so it was all good.

Thursday:
Emily decided to steal Peanut from Matthew.

Haha, she took it right off his chair and ran off.  It was very cute, and Matthew sweetly said, "Okay... she can borrow it for a while."
Yeah, he took it back the first chance he got, haha.

Oh - and the really bad weather finally hit Thursday morning!  Goodness, it was just nasty.  We lost power for a little bit, so did the school.  I had warned the kids on Wednesday that if the power goes out, don't start screaming and acting scared and silly, because that's what all the other kids are going to do.  You just be quiet and calm so your teacher can take care of everybody.  I also told Matthew that the school is the very safest place to be during a storm, so he didn't need to be afraid.

As soon as they came home on Thursday, they told me all about how when the power went out everybody starting screaming... except them.  Haha, they were so proud of themselves, lol.  And Matthew too.  I asked him if he was scared and he said, "No, I knew that I was safe because I was in the school, so I wasn't scared, but the kids in my class were all acting crazy!"  That's my boy.  :o)

Friday:
The kids were out of school for the day, so they had a great time playing outside and with Emily.  And dude - Chris picked us up some crawfish on the way home from work!  Yay!

At first, the kids weren't too sure about it.

And it didn't help that Chris started chasing them with the crawfish!
Haha!

Emily was quite intrigued...

Until Chris tried to get her to give it a kiss.
Lol!

They all said they didn't want any, so we fed the kids their dinner, then sat down to eat in front of them.  And it didn't take long.  Evie was the first to go for it.
She got the hang of it real quick, so then Matthew wanted to try.  It took him a while, and he really didn't like that his fingers were getting all dirty, but he got it too.

It took Joshua a little longer, but once he tasted it and realized what it was, he really wanted some, so he pulled up a chair too.
Now they're all pros!  :o)
Yeah, it only took us 9 months before we got some fresh crawfish in those kids, but woohoo!  Next step: cooking it ourselves!  ;o)

Saturday:
Saturday was gorgeous.
The kids spent almost the whole day outside.  I covered Emily in sunscreen and sent her out there too.  :o)

Joshua stayed busy with his friends.  They were back to having digital Pokemon battles, silly boys.

Emily pushed her train up and down the sidewalk.
It was really funny, because sometimes, another little kid would try to play with her train too, and she would just look at them like, "Who are you and what are you doing with my train?!"  Haha, but she wouldn't stop them or scream at them, but as soon as they ran off, she would hurry over to her train and bring it back by me.

We brought the radio out so we could still party.
Yeah, she was gettin' down on the porch.

Evelyn played with her a lot too.

And Emily wasn't too thrilled about Evie taking off to play with her friends, haha, but it was cool.

Later, she helped Matthew on his Star Wars game.  She got her own controller and figured out how to pause over and over, hehe.

That evening, we went to church and Joshua got to be an altar server again!  And this time, he got to be a candle bearer!  He was so happy about it that he was smirking all the way up to the altar.  He only messed up once, for the Gospel reading, when they are supposed to be on either side of Father.  Yeah, he ended up on the same side as the other candle bearer, hehe.  But he quickly realized it, and moved to the right spot before Father even set the book down.  Go J!  :o)

Sunday:
We had a nice and relaxing day at home again.  We spent time outside and inside, playing games and reading books.  Really great day.

Okay, Emily watches a lot of the Nick Jr. channel.  Well, she doesn't really watch it, but it's usually on in the background, and she always stops when there's a song on.  One of the songs is called "In a House" and a lady does sign language on the screen while singing it.  At the end of almost every line she sings, "... and there's me, me, me!" and points to herself over and over.
Yeah, Emily was doing it.  Hehe, every time the lady said "me" and pointed to herself, Emily pointed to herself.  It was sooo cute!  And she just loved that Evelyn was doing it too.  Pretty soon we were all doing it just so she would keep doing it.  :o)

A few minutes later, one of her favorite songs came on- "Just Like a Rockstar" by some Nick Jr. band for kids.  Emily loves them.
It's so funny because she can be across the house doing puzzles with me, and if she hears that song come on, she runs to living room and starts smiling, shaking her hips, and dancing around.

And that's it.  Man, I think all that great weather and relaxing might have spoiled me a little because I did not want to get up early today, haha.  Oh well, time to do it all over again, but I love it.  I don't think we have anything major coming up, just some dental check-ups, so let's hope for another easy week.  Hope you're all doing great!

Laters!  :o)

Hog Heaven

Hello!  We left Houston yesterday around 12:30 and made it home close to 9 last night.  We would have been home sooner, but we had to make a quick birthday dinner detour.  :o)  Our trip was great, the wedding was great, and just wow, what an awesome weekend we had!

Monday:
We had a pretty easy Monday.
Sometimes she's just walking around, and looking so cute, that I just can't help but take pictures of this girl. :o)
"I love Mondays!"

Joshua got a new AR (Accelerated Reader) Level at school.  It's the reading level for library books that he's allowed to check out and test on.
His new level is 4.5 to 8.4!
8.4 = An 8th grader after 4 months
We're so proud of our bookworm!  Go Joshua!  :o)

Tuesday:
Evelyn brought home some new artwork.
They had to draw and paint something that was fiction, so she drew an elephant having a birthday party.  Emily loves it!

And Emily loves pinto beans too!
Man, the girl is getting to that point where she grabs the fork from my hand so she can feed herself.  She's getting pretty good at it, but goodness, what a mess!

So we've had this stethoscope toy for forever, but Emily's never really cared about it.  Well, as you know, her and Evelyn had follow-up appointments last week, and Emily paid really close attention to what the doctor was doing.
Hehe, as soon as she saw the toy again, she grabbed it, wrapped it around her neck, and got to work trying to check us out.

Then she took it off, put it on Evelyn and stuck her tummy out really far so Evie would check her!
Lol, it was sooo awesome!

Also, the kids brought home their report cards.  And would you believe it, they all got straight A's!  Even Joshua!  He ended up with a 92.5 in the subject we were worried about, so it was rounded up to a 93! (A = 93-100)  So woohoo!  So yeah, they're all on the Principal's List again.  :o)

Joshua's GPA: 96.29
Evelyn's GPA: 99.14
Matthew's GPA: 99.5

Wednesday:
Emily and I went grocery shopping, and the kids had church school.
I don't know why, but she was so amused with this toy all day.  She kept pushing the horn and then just fake-laughing at me, hehe.

Thursday:
Some mornings, Emily gets really comfortable on the walk to and from school.
Hehe.

Later, she was really excited to wear her new shades to go pick up the kids.
"I'm sexy and I know it."

I apologize, but once the kids get home from school, this house is just chaos.  With homework x 3, dinner, helping J study for his tests, showers, and Emily freakin out because the kids are home - I just completely forget to take many pictures of the big midgets.  My bad, but I'm gonna try to make a bigger effort, so it's all good.  :o1

Friday:
What a gorgeous day!
We were gonna get the kids out early for our trip to Houston, but 2 of them ended up with pizza parties, so we stuck around.  Joshua proudly told me that he ate 4 pieces!
Our drive in was... interesting.  We hit soooo much traffic and didn't make it in til almost 1 in the morning!  But the kids were such good sports.  They played games and watched Dvds and did just fine.  (And were a lot less cranky than me and Chris, haha) :o)

Saturday:
We spent time at Nana and Paw Paw's house hanging out with all their cousins!
Evelyn and Katelyn enjoyed playing together.  Emily would sometimes steal toys, and Katelyn had her eye on Emily any time she used the booster chair, but nobody cried, so they did great!

"Does this hat make my head look big?"

The boys had a good time too.
Samuel really liked to watch Joshua play his DS.

Then they set up all the army men for a battle.
There were a few tears over that, but they all played nice in the end.

And we all got to visit with baby Logan too!

That boy was all smiles and giggles, haha.  So much fun!

Wedding:
And then it was time for Aunt Bonny and Uncle Leroy's wedding!
Everyone was dressed their best. :o)

And the wedding was so sweet, I'm pretty sure we all cried.
Except Emily.  She slept through the whole thing, haha.  Oh, and when it was over, Matthew asked Chris, "So, how long will the interception last?"  Chris said, "What?" Matthew said, "The interception.  How long will it last?"  He meant reception.  Haha, my poor boy was so embarrassed, but it just so funny!

The reception was beautiful.

Everybody had a really good time, even Emily.
Although she was sometimes a little shy, she didn't cry when people tried to hold her, and just kinda ran off when she wanted to.

And she loved eating Epa's salt.
"Nom nom."
She would get some, run off to eat it, and then go find him again so she could get more.  He made the mistake of letting her hold the little salt shaker and, of course, she ran off with it.  So every time he would get close to her to get it back, she would hold it under her arm like she was hiding it and run away from him, hehe.

My girls. :o)

And oh man - Evie had a blast dancing!

And dude, pretty surprising to me, she knew all the moves to all the dance songs!
"I can hang with the big girls."
But she was so pretty out there and having so much fun.  She told me the next day that it was the best dance she has ever been to.  Haha, crazy girl.

Matthew got his dance on too.
Here he is shakin' it during the Chicken Dance, lol!

I loved seeing them have so much fun. Woohoo! :o)

But aye, that Joshua.  He warmed up to his other game-playing cousins pretty quick, and that's pretty much what he did all night.
I tried to get him to shuffle during Party Rock, but my little nerd was too embarrassed.  :op  Oh well, he had a great time doing what he loves best.  :o)

It has really been way too long since we got to go to one of these family events.  You really don't know what you're missing until you're not able to go.  We all had so much fun visiting and partying and, just wow.  Can't wait for the next one!  :o)
So happy.  And I'm so happy for Aunt Bonny and Uncle Leroy!

Sunday:
After church, we jumped back on the road to make the trip home.
Emily gave Chris a break from driving. ;o)

And then when we got close to home, Chris had the genius idea of stopping to have a special birthday dinner for me!
Emily quickly picked out her food and chowed down.  She was seriously in hog heaven getting to dip her breadsticks in alfredo as much as she wanted.  We haven't been to Olive Garden in about a year, so the kids were all way too excited, haha.

Whew.  So now we're home, and already unpacked!  Joshua has a big 4th grade standardized test tomorrow, so the other kids are out of school.  Then they're all out of school on Friday, so it looks like we'll have a nice, simple kinda week.  Thanks to everyone for all the great birthday wishes.  That was probably my best 29th birthday so far.  :o)
