The cats are quite interested in this whole packing business.
Well, they like the boxes anyways. ;o)
Evelyn and Joshua built rockets for their Rocket Day at school.
After a lot of frustration putting his together, Joshua named his rocket, "Destined to Explode".
But it didn't! It actually flew!
I happened to be driving by the school when he was retrieving his rocket and he was absolutely astonished that it survived take-off - ha! :oD
Emily the Villain.
On the 19th, Emily attended my last Navy Wives Club meeting with me.
And boy, was she happy she did!
Going-away cake is the best! :oD
(And yes, half that cake went home with us for the other kiddos.) :o)
On the 20th, Evelyn got a haircut - but not short!
I posted a pic on facebook that made her hair look really short, but it's not! Just lots of layers and some side bangs. She loves it. :o)
And man, Emily has been asking to get her haircut for months now. Just that week she was crying because, " I just want to cut my hair, but I don't want to lose my curls, but I just want to cut it..." :o( So she went with us for Evie's appointment and boom! She was ready!
And look how happy she is!
Before and After pics.
She really didn't get that much cut, but she's soooo excited about it! ;o)
And surprisingly - her hair is still very wavy and even curls by itself sometimes! :o)
That weekend, Tia came to visit! And we took a pretty picture at church.
:oD
Emily's last full day of school was on Monday, the 23rd.
Luckily she wasn't crying when I dropped her off - like she had been doing the few days before that, "I'm just gonna miss school and my teachers so much..." :o( But she's alright, I promise. She guilted asked both her teachers for their home addresses and phone numbers so she can write and call them. :oD
Evelyn had a Breakfast of Champions that same day.
She made Principal's List both quarters this past semester.
:o)
And then she turned into Wolverine.
Well, sort of. :oP
I got this message from Emily's teacher later that morning.
She spelled out her name using blocks. I guess that's a big deal! ;o)
That evening, the girls had their last gymnastics class.
And I know I've posted a pic like this before, but she's just so good at doing headstands!
They had a great last day. :o)
On Tuesday, May 24th, Joshua had a special Promotion Ceremony to celebrate moving from the 8th grade to the 9th grade! --- Wait - Whaaaaaat? *gasp* *shock*...
Wow. :oO
These pics describe exactly how I feel about this craziness.
But, I just smile anyways, and try not to look so darn short standing next to him!
;o)
Best tie ever.
During the ceremony, he stood up often to be recognized for different achievements - Good Conduct all year, Tennis, Excellence in Music awards, etc.
:o)
:oD
Check out this short video of this awesome moment:
At the end, the band performed a couple of great songs.
J was on sax.
And Evie was on bass.
:o)
And Aunt Bonny, Maw Maw Hernandez, and Lita all came in for the day!
Family photo!
:oD
That same afternoon, Emily had her End of the Year Pre-K Program.
And oh my - this girl had fun.
Check out the video of them dancing their way to the stage:
They also performed this cute song - Kitchen Band!
(Sorry this video's so shaky.)
Goodness, she was just so cute up there!
Here is a video of them singing the Days of the Week in Louisiana.
Please ignore my mutterings - I was just so excited to see her doing this song, because we used to sing this at our library visits, and she loves this song! :o)
And yes, I know, she's the only one dancing!
When I asked her why, she said, "I don't know, I just wanted to dance, and nobody else would dance!" Haha! :oD
And then those little midgets did a Second Line exit to leave the program.
What a big girl! :o)
Her absolutely wonderful and loving teachers, Ms. Cindy and Ms. Stephanie.
She really did get their home addresses, so I guess I need to buy that girl some stamps. :oD ;o)
Last pic with the school mascot - Bella the Pelican!
(no relation to that other Bella we know) ;o)
:o)
Goodness - what a full and blessed day!
:o)
And man, the next day, Wednesday the 25th, was Matthew's Class Awards!
Check out his video:
This is the best! - He got the Nerds Award!
"For your intelligence and hard work in all areas."
Yep, that sounds like our Matt-dog. :oD
And he got a Future Scientist Award.
Go Matthew!
Dude, okay, the teacher showed us a slide show of when the class visited Starbase - which was a week-long field trip to do science experiments and STEM learning. At the end, she played the "Rocket" song from the TV show "Little Einsteins", and those kids got up and danced around the room! Well, most of the kids did... watch:
Ahahahaha! Yeah, that's what I thought would happen. ;o)
There were 3 kids who didn't dance, and he was very happy to be one of them. :oP :oD
Emily was excited to go to Matthew's class with us, especially after she woke up crying, "I just wish I had school today..." Ha - After having to drag her out of bed all year long, I never thought I'd hear her say that! :oD
She and Matthew spent the afternoon playing Minecraft.
She's getting pretty good at it, and even built herself a house! :o)
The next day, Thursday the 26th, was Evelyn's Class Awards!
:oD
Check out her video:
Go Evelyn!
Friday the 27th was Evelyn and Matthew's last day of school.
:o)
And Evie came home with a bunch of Band Medals for her and Joshua.
Joshua received the LMEA (Louisiana Music Educators Association) District VI Honor Band BCA Representative Medal for making Honor Band earlier in the year. :o)
He also got Talented in Music, 3rd Year Marching Band, and Strong-back Award - for marching with that giant Bari Sax!
And he got a BCA Eagle Band MVP Award!
AND BCA Eagle Band 8th Grade VIP Award.
Way to go Joshua!
Evelyn received medals for Talented in Music, 2nd Year Marching Band, and BCA Eagles Band Major Scales Expert for mastering all of her scales!
She also received a medal for being Perfect!
Haha - seriously! Well, I think it has something to do with her practice record, but Yes, yes she is! ;oD :o)
Oh - and we decided to let her get a phone number. *gasp!*
We would have gotten her a phone when she turns 13 in a few months, but since we're moving, we knew she needed a way to stay in touch with her New Orleans peeps, so yeah. She's soooo excited! And we're happy for her too. Maybe for her birthday we'll actually let her get a new phone to go with that number! Ha! ;o)
So, we're now spending our Memorial Day weekend packing.
We received all the kids report cards and wow! -
End of Year GPA's
Joshua: 96.3
Evelyn: 98.5
Matthew 97.0
And Emily "Met or Exceeded All Program Expectations"
Proud doesn't begin to describe how we feel. :oD
Oh - and Joshua took the End of Course Exam for Algebra 1 and he scored "Excellent" on it - which is the Highest Category! So he's got one Math credit done. :o)
Goodness, these fools make us smile. :o)
Well, wish us luck on all this packing! Chris arrives home this Friday - eek! And then things are really gonna get hectic / busy / crazy around here. ;o)
Now - if Tropical Storm Bonnie could just spare our new home any damage, we'll be good to go. :oP Ha! Well, at least we're not in SC yet, and Chris is away at training, so he's safe too. God-willing, we will be moving into our new home in just 2 weeks! :oO Oh my! Pray for us!
Laters!
