Sunday, June 17th:
We drove into Houston on Sunday and stopped by to say hi to Lita and Epa.
:o)
Booger tried to show Emily how to climb the ladder, but the girl wasn't too sure about that.
And Tia got the girls new dresses!
Aren't they just adorable? And Emily's is Cowboys!! Chris said now we don't have to buy her a jersey for next season, haha.
Monday:
We spent the day picking up some last minute supplies and baking the day away.
Evelyn helped me make Cookies and Cream Cookie Bars to take to the beach house, and dude - they turned out soooo yummy!! I can't wait for a chance to make them again.
Emily said, "Yeah, but check these babies out - I look awesome!" :o)
Tuesday:
We arrived in Port Aransas early in the afternoon.
And right away, the kids helped Daddy unpack the fishing gear. :o)
We went out for a quick dinner, and then drove around looking for bait at the pretty water. ;o)
"Yo Corpus - We're baa-aack!"
And check out these cool bunk beds the kids slept in.
Purdy neat, huh? Joshua slept above Matthew's bed, and Emily and I slept under Evelyn's. And besides that first time Evie did it, they didn't hit their heads at all. Hehe. ;o) (And if you look really close, you can see Emily making good use of her bed.)
Chillin' like villains.
"Hey, I'm chillin' too!"
Wednesday:
We woke up to a cloudy Wednesday morning. The forecast was not in our favor, but we all headed out to the beach anyways.
"Clouds? What clouds?"
And the kids got right to work digging and playing in the sand with their cousins.
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this was Emily's first trip to the beach! Well, she was a little wary of the sand, and and not real sure if she actually wanted to sit down on it or not, so she didn't.
I have picture after picture of her hunched down like that, haha.
:o)
The kids were having a great time, but man, I was sooo distracted by these giant rain clouds off in the distance. I just knew they were going to pour down on us any minute, even though they never really did. Anyhow, we headed back to the beach house in time to have some lunch.
The kids enjoyed sitting outside and watching Aunt Angelica and Uncle Rodger play catch. And dude - we totally forgot to bring any of their baseball stuff! Bleh, fail, I know. Oh well, we'll remember next time.
They entertained themselves for a while with their DS games, and for about 30 minutes, it was really quiet in the house. ;o)
Later, we headed back out to the beach for a while.
The boys piled on the back of Nana's golfcart.
And the girls in the front. Cousins are awesome!! :o)
The rain stayed clear of us, but the sun never really popped out either. Those kids still had a blast!
Thursday:
Thursday was our really rainy day, so the kids found lots of stuff to do indoors.
They hosted a couple of tea parties.
Hehe. :o)
And they learned how to play Clue Jr.
And their littlest cousin Logan arrived!
Hey beautiful boy!
See look, he fits right in! :o)
They put together puzzles, played DS, and colored some too. The sun ended up coming out for a little while that afternoon, so they even got to visit the pool for a while, woohoo!
Friday:
Dude, we did so much stuff, and had so much fun on Friday!
Emily tried to rock the pig-tail look.
And yes, she was pretty cute-looking, but all I could think of every time I looked at her was when Jim Carrey would dress as the female bodybuilder on In Living Color! Bleh. I think we'll wait until we get some more hair on that head before trying that look again. (And if you don't know what I'm talking about, just google it, I don't have the heart to post the side-by-side comparison.) ;o)
We were at the beach by 10:30 that morning.
Hi Matt-dog!
Joshua helped Emily try out the water.
And oooh, as soon as that water rushed up around her legs, she got this look of fear on her face! It didn't help that the little waves were strong enough to push her over and I had to hold her really tight. Yeah, she wasn't too sure that she liked that part. Maybe next time.
Uncle Terry flew a kite...
And I can't remember why, but he ended up putting the kite string on a fishing pole, and dude...
We had the highest kite on the beach! (Can you even see that little speck of kite out there?!)
It was really cool, and the kids really liked it.
And they got an awesome tan that day too. Daddy, the Uncles, and Paw Paw took them out to the water a lot while I stayed on the sand with Emily.
Hello Indian Evelyn!
Digging and sandcastles and kites, oh my!
It was all just too much for the girl.
Haha, yeah, she decided to take a nap on Nana's golfcart. :o)
Logan says, "Pssh, that girl just can't hang!"
Samuel caught a shark! ;o)
And later, Evelyn got to show off her skills on the beach with her aunt and uncles!
Go Evie!
Hi Joshua!
And right when it was really warming up out there, we headed over to cool down by the pool.
The kids got to work on their swimming skills too.
Emily didn't want to walk around in the water, but she got a little better about it.
As always, chillin' like villains!
This was Emily's favorite mode of transportation around the pool.
Logan was jealous, so he made his daddy do it too. ;o)
Happy midgets. :o)
After lunch, we took a new Nutt Family portait!
There's so many of us!
Proud grandparents! :o)
Later, we all made a trip down the road to the candy shop!
Oh my goodness - there was so much yummy-ness in there! The kids each got to pick out a few things for their bags (and I got the best peanut butter cup ever!)
:o)
Then we ran to the store across the street, where the kids got some little toys to remember their trip to Port Aransas.
Photo-op with the lighthouse outside the store!
Yes, Captain Morgan Joshua bought a sword. :o)
And then they were eaten by a shark!
Haha, very cool Port Aransas, very cool.
And then, we ran across the street again to take this picture!
Hehe. Unfortunately, the sun was shining directly at them, so they couldn't open their eyes, haha. And Emily was asleep in the car, so she kinda missed out on all these awesome photo-ops, but oh well. It was still so cute!
Lol!
As soon as Emily woke up, she got to eat her treat from the candy shop - a chocolate-covered oreo!
Nom nom nom. :o)
And then, after another trip to the pool, Paw Paw shared his ice cream with everybody! I had a pic of him and the other kids with their cones, but it turned out sooo blurry. So y'all get to see another picture of Emily eating.
:oD
Saturday:
Oh yeah, we were back at the beach baby!
Tan those legs girl!
And look, Emily caught a shark too! ;o)
Gosh, it was so pretty that morning.
And guess who finally realized that it was okay to get dirty.
And she had so much fun!
Thank goodness for cousins to play with!
Yeah, those big kids left early in the morning with Daddy to get in some quality fishing time. And dude - check them out!
Way to go J!
Eww, no Evie, don't touch it! Haha, goodness, that girl is definitely her father's child. ;o) They all caught fish, and Matthew actually caught the most, but he refused to pose with, or get near, his fish for a picture. Yeah, that one's mine. Lol!
They met back up with us later at the pool.
And then Emily drove us back to the beach house for lunch.
Haha, yeah, she did! It was only about 3 blocks and she needed the practice. ;o)
Later, we went to Moby Dick's for some yummy dinner.
:o)
And then it was time for more ice cream!
Hehe. It was such a good trip and I'm so glad that we got to go and the kids got to spend so much time with their cousins and family. Man, looking at all these pictures, I kinda wish we were back there now! :o)
Sunday:
We headed back to Houston on Sunday. And dude, we used to think that trip from Corpus to Houston was sooo long, but that 6-7 hours New Orleans trip has taught us otherwise. :o)
Quick pic when we got back in our matching shirts and shades. :oD
And that's it. Gosh, I have really missed the beach. And I'm not big on getting in the water, but just jamming out and watching the kids have so much fun digging and getting dirty, I just love it. I can't wait to get back! What a great trip! I'm glad every one made it home safely, and even with those first couple of rainy days, it was awesome to see everybody and talk with the girls and love on y'all's kids!! :o) I hope everyone has a great week. Chris headed back to New Orleans today for work, but the kids and I will be chillin' in Houston until Sunday - so let the vacation continue! ;o)
Laters!
