Some Kind of Wonderful

As you can probably tell from this picture, we're doing pretty good here.  :o)  Busy as always, but enjoying our last month before the big move (to the Big Easy! haha).  And we're really looking forward to Chris coming home at the end of the week.  ;o)

Monday:
Joshua couldn't wait to show me this when he got home from school.  In science, they made a skeleton of rodent bones.

I asked him what they used for bones.  He said, "Well, they came from a barn owl."  I was like what??  He explained that they put on gloves and goggles and got to use tweezers to perform their "Lab" of digging through owl pellets to find rodent bones!!!  Ewwwww!!  Yuck!  Seriously?!
Yep, that's what he got to do at school on Monday.  See how proud he is?  Nerd.  It's all in plastic wrap, but I had him put it on the little table in the corner and it's been sitting there ever since.  I don't want to touch it!  :oP

Later at karate, the kids all got their advancements!
Matthew is now a White Belt to the 6th degree.  Instead of another stripe, he got a new patch that reads, "Official Leader".  He's now the highest ranking student in his Little Dragons class.  He would move up to Joshua and Evelyn's class/level after he turned 6 if we were still attending here.
He's so proud and loves his new patch!  (He made me sew it on that same day so he can be all set for next week.)

Evelyn is now a Yellow Belt - Recommended!

And Joshua is now a full Green Belt - Decided!

So proud of my babies!  I hope we can find a good place for them to attend in New Orleans (if they want to).  :o)

Tuesday:
Normal school day.  These are just some pics before bath and bed time.
Matthew was reading this little book to Emily.

Crazy girls

"Uh... this isn't what it looks like."

Wednesday:
Emily had her 6 month check-up, which also meant more shots.  Yep, she screamed pretty good.  But here she is just an hour later, doing fine.
The doctor said that she looks great!  Stats:
Weight - 17 lbs 11.8 oz. - 83rd percentile
Length - 26.25 in. - 71st percentile
Seems to be about the same as the other babies.  :o)

Thursday:
Evelyn's class has been studying different composers the past couple of weeks.  Last week she told me all about how Randy Newman wrote the music for all the Toy Story movies.  She also asked me, "Mommy did you know that John Williams didn't just write the music for Star Wars and Indiana Jones?  He also wrote it for Harry Potter, Jurassic Park and E.T.?"  I guess I forgot about those Evie.

Well, we were watching the "Little Einsteins" on the Disney channel.  (They love that show.)  The show played a short classical piece of music, and before the characters named the composer, Evie shouted out, "Hey - that's Brahms Tchaikovsky!"  She was right.  I asked her if they studied him too, she was so nonchalant, "Yeah."  (I originally thought she said Brahms, but she looked at the blog and corrected me, "Mommy, we didn't study Brahms yet, I said it was Tchaikovsky, you should change this.")

Nerds, I tell you, all of them!

Friday:

Super-baby!

Emily frequently gets her and her walker stuck like this.  She also has started to go forward a little!

Matthew brought home a bean plant he made in class last Friday.  But before we could get it home, the plant part broke off, he was pretty tore up about it.  So we've been watering it to see if another of the beans he planted would sprout.
And it did!  He's really excited.  He made me put it on the windowsill behind the sink "so it can be with all the other plants in the house."  It has already outgrown the cup, and I have an extra pot, so we're going to try to re-pot it this week.  We'll see how it goes.  :o)

Saturday:
We just hung out all day, worked out (the kids did my yoga video with me, sorry no pictures) and got some stuff done around the house.

"Okay, I got them off, but how do I get them back on??"

Evelyn brought home her Math workbook from school.  They're done with it for the year, but they didn't do all of the pages in class, so she spent a lot of her time Saturday doing those pages.
I told her that she doesn't have to do them, but she was like, "I know, but I want to finish the book and I like doing them."  I don't know where this child came from, but I'm starting to wonder if she's mine.  Haha.  ;o)

Still working on that tummy time.  She can push up really well, move backwards, roll over and around, and almost gets her knees under her.
Why does she always get that "What? I'm not doing anything wrong" look on her face when I catch her?

Sunday:
Pop that colla' J!
Hahaha!  He didn't realize his collar was sticking up, so he was walking around before church like that.  I gave him my glasses and took his picture before fixing it, too cute.

Oh - and Emily has started sucking/gnawing on her bottom lip, so she makes this goofy face a lot, hehe.

After church, we got ready to go to Aunt Cathy's for some Memorial Day burgers and corn on the cob.  Joshua decided he wanted to wear one of Chris' hats.  But dude look--
He looks soooo much like Chris, it's scary!
(And that spot on his nose is a carpet burn, caught himself with his face on Saturday, but he's okay.)

Yummy food!

Before church pic.

Chris will be home in just 6 more days!  You know, we can do it without him when we have to, but frankly, we're so sick of it (and not just me, the kids too.)  And it's so much better when he's here.  No matter what waits for us in New Orleans, it will be awesome because he gets to be home with us!  :o)  So let's roll already!  ;o)  Have a great week.

Walking on Sunshine

Another great week here in sunny Seattle!  That's right, I said sunny!  We saw a lot of sun this week and it was awesome.  :o)

Tuesday:

They were just looking cute, so I had to take their picture.

Don't forget me!

"Mommy, can we wear our sunglasses to school?"  :o)

So Emily and I are still working on this bottle business.  At first, she just played around with it.
"Like this, Mom?"

That's better.  She didn't really drink it, just gnawed on it at first.  But later that day, she got the hang of it and sucked down a couple of ounces!  Woohoo!

Wednesday:

Evie lost a tooth!
She's been wiggling it around for a couple of days and she finally got it out before school that day.

"Mommy, take a picture of my tooth with Emily!"  Hehe.

Emily scored her first pair of sneakers!
Her feet are quite fat, so it's been tough trying to find her some that fit well.  Now she's able to touch the floor in the walker when she wears them, but she only goes backwards.  I've had to pull her across the room several times now just so she can back up again.  :o)

With the sun out, we got to go to William's tee-ball game!
Fan section says, "Go William!"

Emily made good use of her new shoes.

Thursday:

The sun!  Again!  So we hit the park - again!

And as you saw last week, Emily took her first ride in a swing!
Goodness, she really loved it.

Weeeee!!

Posing with his little sis.

Joshua climbed to the top of the rock wall!
Go J!

Later at home, Emily ate some peaches in her mesh fruit thingy.
She really just liked sucking all the juice out.  I had to change the fruit out 4 times!

Friday:

Friday was Heritage Day at school.  Like I said last week, that means it's Go Texan Day!
Sheriff Joshua

Cowgirl Evelyn

Deputy Matt-Dog

Haha! (No, I didn't tell him to pose like that!)

Emily was wearing one of the kids' old t-shirts that says,
"My First Texas T-shirt".
Joshua was a little concerned though.  He said, "But Mommy, Emily's not from Texas."  I said, "Yes she is, she just doesn't know it yet because she was born here, but she's really from Texas."  :o)

See, she's learning.  :o)

Matthew brought this home in his schoolwork.  The sentence says, "See the trash in the tree."  And he's supposed to draw it.
I just thought it was funny that instead of drawing a piece of paper or a coke can, he drew a whole trash can up in the tree.  :o)

Later, we went to Aunt Cathy's house for dinner and games.
The kids had fun playing Scattergories and eating hamburgers and fries.  (Thanks Aunt Cathy and Uncle Brian!)

Saturday:

Matthew built a car wash out of legos.

"Here's how it works."  He was so proud of himself, and so was I.

Sunday:

Before church picture.  Emily refused to look, she was way too interested in trying to get to her shoe (so she could eat it, I'm sure.)

She's really warmed up to sitting in her highchair.
They love hanging out together.

Only 12 more days until Chris comes home!  He's aced all his exams so far and has 3 more tests just this week!  The sun's out again today too.  So awesome.  Have a great week!

Laters!  :o)
