Singin' in the Rain

...Just singin' in the rain!  Hello!  We are hangin' tough here in our very soggy and wet Louisiana home.  :o)  The storms have just been so yucky, and we even lost power for a while last night, but luckily all the kiddos were snug in their beds, so no worries.  Well, Matthew's a ham, Emily just can't help but give us all a good laugh, and we had another awesome week, of course.  :o)

Monday:
The kids were out of school for Presidents' Day, and the boys have been itching to spend some of those paychecks they've been saving up, so we took them shopping.

Matthew got a truck.
Like, a truck.  Hehe, it's really cool, and remote control, and he wasted no time taking it outside and running it into every tree and light pole he could find.  :o)

Joshua bought a couple of new Skylanders characters for his Wii game.
If you want to be a different character in his Skylanders game, you actually have to go to the store and buy a different encoded action figure, set it on your "Portal of Power" pedestal, and then they appear in the game.  Each figure costs about $10-$15.  :oO  Wow.  Well played, Skylanders-creators, well played.  ;o)  I think that's just crazy!  But oh well, if it makes him happy, and that's what he wants to spend his well-earned mula on, then go Joshua!  :o)

Evelyn is saving up her money to buy something big, so she only took a little to the store to spend.
And found this really cute kitty-cat organizer for her dresser.  :o)

And just because she was feeling a little left out, we grabbed something for Emmy too.
Hehe, she was looking at all the Hello Kitty stuff with Evie saying, "Oooh, for Emmy too!"  Haha.  She now eats almost every meal on this plate.  :o)

Matthew also got himself a new Nerf gun.
The Retaliator!
Seriously, that's the name of that gun, hehe.  He's very happy with it.

And since he's such a good brother, he let Emily pose with it too.
:o)

The kids spent the rest of the day playing outside, well except Joshua, he spent the day playing Wii with his new characters.  :o)  Daddy got the big cars out and let Emily drive around for awhile, with help from Evelyn of course.  (Unfortunately, those pics are on Chris' phone, and I forgot to get them before he left!  :o/  Oh well.)

Later, Chris borrowed Matthew's gun so he could hide and shoot at our children.
Bahaha!

Yeah, he got her, and Matthew too.  Silly kids.  ;o)
Evelyn had gymnastics that night and the coach-instructor-lady decided that Evie should go ahead and move up to another class on Mondays, one that's just a little more advanced. (Eek!)  Evelyn was super-excited about this news, so we'll see how it goes!  Cool beans!  :o)

Tuesday:
Evelyn's class recently read a book on the Titanic for their lesson on realistic fiction.  And she loved it.  Like, seriously, she wants to buy 19 more books about the Titanic and keeps begging me to let her watch the movie.  (Like that's going to happen!  :oP)  But for real, she really sat down and searched Amazon on her kindle and wrote down the titles of 19 different Titanic books!  I told her that maybe she can get just a few... but goodness, that girl is crazy!  It's kinda neat that she's so interested in it, and yeah, we'll eventually let her watch the movie, but gosh, I'm not sure my girl could handle it, I balled my eyes out watching that movie!  (over and over again.)  ;o)  We'll see!

Continuing their lesson, she proudly showed me her "Titanic ticket" where she's been designated as a crew class passenger.
She's waaay too happy about that.
She's also doing journal entries and a presentation later this week, but... *shakin my head* oh that girl.  ;o)

They had an apple-y snack while knocking out some homework.

No, Joshua didn't have an apple, he had a fruit roll-up instead (it's kinda the same thing, right?)  ;o)

Matthew loves apples! ...and grapes, grapefruit, oranges, strawberries... man, that boy loves fruit!  :o)

Time for dress-up!
Goodness, I now understand why some moms let their little girls go to the store in crowns and tutus.  That girl loves to play dress-up.  She gets her skirt on, finds her tiara, and then lets me know that she's ready to go!  And it's becoming a battle to get her out of it to leave sometimes!  Haha, but she does make such a cute princess, so I guess it might be okay.  ;o)

Wednesday:
It was Picture Day!
Sharp-lookin' midgets!  :o)
Matthew said, "Mom, is it okay if I just smirk in my picture?" and then he grinned and pulled his mouth to the side to show me how he would do it!  No Matt-dog, it's not okay!  No smirking.  :oP  They said they all smiled nice and big, we shall see... ;o)

So Emily has been frequenting the restroom more and more, so we decided it was time for some pull-ups.
Hehehe, she's sooo happy with her new "princess panties", cause that's what she calls them.  And she's doing sooo good!  I told her that if she messed them up, we have to throw them away, so she has been constantly telling me when she has to go!  Yay!  She hasn't made it every time, but we've had several days now where she makes it the whole day in a dry pull-up!  Go Emmy!  :o)

Oh yeah, time for some more dress-up.
Lol, we were cleaning out Evie's closet and found some 'new' stuff for dress-up.  Work it Em!

Later, she was so sleepy, so she got her "Dor-dor baby" all tucked away in her crib and then laid down to watch TV and passed out with her.  :o)

We took Evelyn to gymnastics that night, and kept the girl busy with one those Disney "Seek and Find" games, which is kind of a Where's Waldo? for preschoolers.  She would search for the monkey and go, "Hmmm....."
Lol, yes, she's tapping her mouth and going "Hmmm...."

And then she'd find it and go, "There it is!"
Hehe, silly girl.

Evelyn continues to go to her normal beginner class on Wednesdays, and she did a really great job.
Check out that cartwheel!

And of course...
Haha.  Nice Emmy.  :o)

Thursday:
Chris was off of work, so Emily spent some time out in the garage helping him work on the truck.
Which she was very happy about.  :o)

And then I had to run to the store, so it was nap time.
:oP

Instead of riding in her car or stroller, she walked with me to get the kids from school.
It was really windy, but they were so happy to hold her hand on the walk back home (when she would let them, of course!)  :o)  Joshua stayed after school to go to Minecraft Club.  This was the first Thursday that he didn't have a ton of homework/studying, so we let him go.  Hopefully he can go from now on, but we'll see.  :o)

At the store, Emily picked out some yummy pudding for them to snack on, so as soon as we got home, she ran to the fridge (which Evie opened for her) and passed out puddings and spoons to everybody.
The midgets love pudding!

:o)

Emily didn't sleep too well the night before, and later that day, she pointed to her ear a few times and said, "Ow."  So we realized that she probably had an ear ache.  I gave her some Tylenol, but she saw me buy band-aids earlier that day, and said, "Now 'and-aid" and pointed to her ear.  And it took me a minute, but I finally realized she was saying band-aid and that she wanted one for her ear!  Poor baby... okay!
Lol, yeah, we stuck a little Kermit band-aid on her ear, and dude - it made her feel sooo much better!  And she slept like an angel that night.  :oD

Friday:
It was a little drizzly outside for our walk to school that morning, so we busted out the umbrellas.
Emily loved the chance to use her kitty-cat one.  "Bye kids!"  :o)

But the sun came out that afternoon, so she traded the umbrella for some shades.

Last week, Matthew brought home a paper cup and said that his class grew some little plants in them, and the teacher said he could bring a cup home so he could plant one here.  :o)  So when we went shopping on Monday, he picked out some seeds to grow sunflowers.  Well, the night before, while I went to a meeting at the church for Matthew's First Communion (which is coming up on May 5th!  So cool!) he and Daddy got his seeds planted in his paper cup.
Matthew read the back of the seed packet very carefully and told Chris exactly how far down they had to put the seeds, and that he can never let the soil get dry, and that he needed to cover it "so it can grow like in a greenhouse."  :o)  He's been checking it a couple of times a day to make sure it doesn't need water.

"I am Matt-Dog the Gardener!!"
Hehe.  :o)

Saturday:
The girls were up early, coloring some Mickey Mouse pics.
:o)

And later, they all worked together to defeat some game they were playing on the computer.
Didn't even notice the flash. :oP

"Yo midgets - Smile for my camera!"
Bahaha.  Nice.  :o)

They were inside most of the day because it was pretty wet outside, so we sat down and watched the "Singin' in the Rain" movie!  How appropriate.  :o)  I got it on the DVR a few weeks ago, and they've seen part of it before, but we hadn't had time to watch the whole thing.  Well, of course, they loved it!  Evelyn said that it's her "favorite old movie" now.  Haha.

Quick pic before church.
:o)  Yeah, Emily just woke up, which means she was wide awake at church.  But she does really good now, and usually just colors or snacks on her goldfish the whole time, but more importantly, she remembers that she's supposed to be quiet!  :o)

Sunday:
Well, we got up waaay before the sun and gave Daddy a ride to the airport.  And I know you can't really see this pic, but Evelyn and Emily both passed out on the way with their heads tilted just the same, so cute!
So yep, we dropped him off and later that day, he made it safely to Virginia. (Yay!)  He'll be headed back home around the 15th of next month.  :o)

When we got back to the house, the boys made some yummy cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
I let them do everything but put the pan in the oven and take it back out, but dude, Matthew sat and watched them bake the whole 12 minutes!  Hehe.

What a great breakfast!
Yes, Emily just woke up, but she wasn't as grumpy as she looks.  :o)

So, since J came home from school on Friday with a giant hole in the knee of his school pants, we ran to the store real quick and got him some new ones.  And we were up and going so early, that we made it back to the house well before lunch time, so those kids had plenty of time to catch up on their games. :o)
"I love new pants!"  ;o)

Emily kept bothering Matthew while he was trying to play the Wii.  So, he decided to find her a controller that didn't have any batteries and let her "play".
She sat there and "played" with him for quite a while.  Haha, smart boy.  :o)

The kids' school is having a contest next Friday (Mar. 1) to see which class can accumulate the most Accelerated Reader points in one day.  (That's the comprehension quizzes they take after reading a book, and they all have a point goal they have to reach each quarter.  They're also competing against other schools across the state/nation.)  Well, they're also awarding a prize to the person in each grade who gets the most points, so our little over-achiever has decided that it will be her.
Hehehe.  Yeah, she already had a few books lined up, all ready to test on, but last Friday, she decided she's going to read the first Harry Potter book before next Friday so she can get even more points.  :o)
Good luck Evelyn!

The baby midget was sleepin' so I decided to take pics and play with the editing on my phone.
Sleeping with her Dor-dor baby.  :o)

Joshua loves the "Origami Yoda" book series (which also includes "Darth Paper Strikes Back" and "The Secret of the Fortune Wookie").  :o)  And I'm sure I've probably shared his little origami Yoda-dudes before, but he kinda went crazy making them on Sunday.
Lol!  He named them all and put on a show too!

Han Foldo is on the left, followed by Origami Daddy, Origami Josh, Yoda 1 and Yoda 2.
Gotta love that imagination!  :o)

We had a delicious potato and chicken dinner that all the kids approved of.
Hehe.  :oD

That night, we had some popcorn and watched the Oscars while Emily baked us a cake.
And you can't see it in her hand, but she just whipped the lid off her pot and said "Tada!"  Lol.

Then she put it on a plate and served each of us a bite.  :o)
The kids went to bed around 8:30 and they were all out within 10 minutes!  Guess getting up really early can have its benefits.  :o)

And that was our week!  Not too bad, just more rain than I'd like, but not bad at all.  :o)  Chris is all settled in and ready for his training (Study hard babe!) and the kids and I don't have any big plans for this week.  Oh - we did find out that it's already time to register Evelyn for Softball!  (Both of the boys have decided to sit out this season.  :oP)  So we'll do that later this week.  Hope everyone's staying dry and safe.  Have a great week.  :o)

Nothin' But a Good Time

Hello!  Well, we started out last week chillin' in Houston, and after returning home and having only 2 days of school, we've just ended what turned out to be a really long and unexpected vacation!  Woohoo!  We even topped it off with another day out of school for Presidents' Day, so yeah.  :o)  What an enjoyable week!

Monday:
We spent the day at Lita and Epa's house (and made sure that Epa didn't do any jumping jacks or lift anything heavy!)  ;o)
The kids got a bunch of lollipops from someone (sorry, can't remember who!) so they stayed on a sugar high for most of the day.

Chillin' like villians.

Cuz that's what we do best!
:o)

And of course, a cute sleepy baby picture.
Guess the sugar only lasts so long.  ;o)

Tuesday:
Happy Mardi Gras!
Although we weren't able to be in New Orleans for the big day, we still brought our party shirts and plenty of delicious King Cake with us to celebrate!

I think we ended up eating it like 3 times that day, haha.

And Matthew got the baby!  King Matt-dog!  :o)
Chris said it was kind of a good thing that we weren't able to go to the parades this year because it ended up being really windy, rainy, and cold out there.  Eek, he's right, we would have still tried to go and we would have been miserable... so yeah, thank goodness we had a good reason to miss them.  ;o)

Yeah... I could not keep that girl away from the dogs!  She was just all too happy to crawl around on the floor with them every chance she got!  Eh, whatever floats her boat.  :oP

Our "We're so happy it's Mardi Gras!" picture.

Hehe.  :o)

And later that evening, we stuck a candle in the last of the King Cake and sang Happy Birthday to Tia!
:o)

Emily helped her blow out the candle.

And Evie ended up getting a baby too!  Queen Evelyn!

Wednesday:
After our short but sweet visit, Epa was feeling a lot better, so we packed up and headed home early that morning.
We had a good drive and got in around 2 that afternoon.  I grabbed this quick pic of Evie as she and Daddy headed out the door to her gymnastics class.  They met up with us later at church for Ash Wednesday Mass.  :o)

Thursday:
The kids headed back to school, but not without some chocolate goodies.
Happy Valentine's Day!

"It's chocolate money for me to eat?!"  Yes, yes it is.

Emily wasted no time and started snacking on hers before I could finish passing it out!

The kids had a great day back at school and brought home lots more goodies.  And big brother Joshua brought home this kitty-cat tattoo just for his little sister!
Awww.

They were both really excited once we got it on her.  Go Joshua!  :o)

Evelyn got a bunch of chocolate hearts (filled with caramel!) that she shared with everybody, and Matthew painted these 2 valentine's pictures for us.
We have such sweet midgets.  :o)

Oh - and since I was taking pictures, she held up her tattoo and stood next to the paintings just like Matthew did and said "Cheese!"
Lol!  :o)

Later, Joshua and I were reviewing some of his science homework when Emily joined us and started commenting on the "yucky" pictures in his textbook. "Blaaah!"
Haha, yes, she would look at the pictures, point and then stick out her tongue and make the "Blech!" noise that she makes when something is yucky or gross.

Lol!

Evie had a make-up gymnastics class that night, so on their way home, they stopped and got everybody Valentine's Day snow balls!  (No, not snow cones, they are snow balls here, get it right!)  ;o)
What a great day!

Friday:
So, I had to go do some grocery shopping...
And Emily said, "Great - cause I could really use a nap!"  :oP

We stopped by the Exchange (the store on base) and I had totally forgot! - Joshua was going on a "field trip" there to talk to some WWII Vets and the Tchoupitoulas Indians.  It wasn't until I saw these bright costumes that I realized J was probably there, and although you can't see him, he's right in the middle of this crowd of kids.  :o)
We hung around long enough to wave to Joshua and see him get his picture taken with the Indians.  Very cool!  He told me that I should get a copy of the picture soon.  And he brought home his picture today!

He told me that he was one of a few kids that won the raffle to get your picture taken with them.  :o)  And that he was 1 of the only 2 kids in all of 5th grade to get a 100 on his Social Studies test!  Woohoo!!  So he got another homework pass!  Yay for my J!

Later that day, the housing people came and installed a storm door for us!  We're very happy about it because now we can leave the front door open and let that sunshine in! :o)

Oh - and when we went to the store, Emily picked out a new movie for the kids - Madagascar 3!
So we popped some popcorn and had a movie night.  :o)  And oh my goodness, that movie is so fun to watch!  We saw it in theaters, but I guess I missed half of it because I didn't remember a lot (probably trying to keep the baby midget quiet).  So it was awesome!  :o)

Saturday:
Evelyn woke up in the middle of the night not feeling too well.  She had a stuffy head and runny nose, so she decided to take it easy and stayed inside most of the day.
Watching Madagascar 3 again with her sister.  :o)

Matthew and Joshua were outside most of the day, and yeah, by church time they both had runny noses and were coughing.  :o/
"Emmy sit on Dor-dor house!"
Lol!  Yeah, she was feeling pretty good.  Later that night, I had them all line up for shots of benadryl and cough medicine, but thankfully no one had any fever.  I think it's just all the allergies and changing weather, but yeah, they weren't feeling too hot.

Sunday:
They all woke up on Sunday morning with runny noses, bleh.  So we stripped all the beds and lived in a Lysol-induced fog all day.  :o)
They stayed in the house for most of the morning and watched Madagascar 3 again!  (They also went to bed watching it the past 2 nights - Will they ever get tired of it??)  Haha.  ;o)

And even though they were all stuffy-headed, we didn't want to keep them cooped up in the house, so we released them once it warmed up some outside.
Matthew was pulling his friends around in his "wagon-taxi".  :o)

Joshua and Evelyn started a soccer game with their friends, and I was shocked to find they were actually on the same team!  Hehe.  ;o)

:o)

And all while Emily took a nap.
Hehe.  She got to play outside once she got up.  :o)

And that was our week!  We had a great Presidents' Day, and despite all the icky noses and empty medicine bottles, we're doing really good.  The kids were excited to get back to school today and are ready to tackle the next round of assignments and tests.  And tomorrow is picture day!  So they get to be all cute and dress down for school.  :o)  So it should be another great week.  Chris is getting ready to leave for training.  He flies out this coming Sunday and will be gone until March 15th (I think).   Bleh... well, gotta look on the bright side, at least it's only for 3 weeks and not for 3 months!  Right?!  Right.  ;o)  It's all good.  Hope y'all have a great week!
