July 2016

Here are our July moments.  :o)

The cats are right at home.

Matthew got the DVD's arranged nicely.
:o)

We spent a crazy afternoon in this insane discounted place.
Soooo many cheap books!

We had fun for 4th of July.

Yep, that girl got to hold a bottle rocket!
Check it out:
:o)

:oD

Ha!

She said it was just her size.
And no, we didn't get it.  She'd be too big for it a month later!

:o)

Time to fill those bookshelves back up!

Done!  Plus, a new rug.  :o)
The cats love the new rug too.

:o)

Finally found a couch!

Little Emmy or big flower??  :oP

Yep, our kids fell victim to the craziness of Pokemon Go.
And I have to admit, it was an awesome way to get them out of the house, walking, and learning our new neighborhood.

:oD

Matthew decided to build a cat fort with a bunch of our empty boxes.
And yes, the cats loved it.

Cutie.

We checked out the new library on base.

And Emily made her name with sticks, even added some hearts.

Matthew keepin' his reading skillz up.  :o)

On the 16th, Chris' ship had a Family Day aboard the USS Yorktown. It's parked in Patriot's Point in Charleston Harbor and has a Naval Museum.
This is the the Ravenel Bridge, which connects Charleston to Mount Pleasant.

It's not a big deal, just a bridge, but was kinda pretty.

Em's face as Chris took her down the stairs.
:oD

We had a lot of fun out there.  :o)

And dinner afterwards.  :o)

They both try to convince me that Matthew is not too big for the cart.
:oP

We made a trip to the beach!
There are so many choices for beaches here!
This day, we ended up at Isle of Palms, which is set up like a beach pocket park.

:o)

Evie took a trip to the doctor for a persistent little cough, which they decided was probably allergy related, so now all 4 kids are on allergy meds.  :oP  ;o)

Yes, Matthew, you can definitely get that hat.  :o)

We have a wonderful neighborhood swimming pool just a few blocks from the house.

And Emily is finally comfortable going underwater (with goggles of course).

What a great way to spend a hot summer.  :o)

SO - in the Spring, Joshua participated in a Poetry Writing Workshop hosted by the New Orleans Museum of Art, and they finally got the book printed with all the poetry created by the kids involved!

Joshua, and the others involved, had to select a piece of art and write a poem inspired by that artwork.

His first poem is called "Seated Crowd".
I know it's not easy to read, but yeah, he did a great job.  :o)

This poem is called "The Javelin".

Go Joshua!  We're so proud of our published writer.  :oD

Time for LoterĂa!

They won cookies and money.  :o)

On the 23rd, we went and watched the new Ghostbusters - in 3D!
Slime coming at you in 3D is the best!

And then we took this chick bass guitar shopping.
Yeah, she's jamming all the time now that she has her own bass and amp.  Rock on Evie.  :o)

Matthew continues to loose teeth.
I think he's almost out... ;o)

Emily does drawings for her "prayer time" and these are some of the cutest things I have ever seen.
Awwww.  :o)

Stopped and got some lemonade from a stand down the street.
We really are blessed with a great neighborhood here.

Just cuz we're cute.  ;oP

And then -
Happy Birthday to Matthew!
Our big boy turned 11!

Birthday dinner of choice - Chinese buffet (of course).  :o)

After explaining what he wanted for his birthday "cake", he put this thing together himself.

Isn't that incredible?!
Happy Birthday to our awesome Matt-dog.  :o)

Oh, and we caved and got Emily one of those enclosed blanket bed things.
And of course, it's a cat.  :o)

So, we just zip her into bed each night and she makes her own bed every  morning now too.  ;o)

Yay for July!  I don't think August will happen before Christmas (I need to wrap presents!) but we'll see.  Laters.  :o)
