Journey of a Cheeseburger

Hello there!  We're staying warm and cozy, despite all this coldness, and the kids are already halfway through this quarter - and Progress Reports come home today, so wish them luck!

Here's our latest and greatest -

See?  Warm and cozy.  :o)

So... Joshua and his girlfriend walked to school together a few times.
(Yes, I followed behind them and secretly took pictures. :oP)
But they have since "broken up".  :o(
One afternoon Joshua said to me, "Yeah, we're not together anymore.  She wanted me to leave my friends for her, and I'm just not ready to do that yet."  O.o   Ahahahaha!  That's awesome.
He said that they are just friends now and she has a new boyfriend already.  *sigh*  Young love.  ;o)

Emily gathered up her Christmas money, emptied her piggy banks, and headed to the store with Daddy and Evelyn for a shopping spree.

She stocked up on some new barbies and lots of dresses and accessories.  :o)

And Evelyn, oh Evelyn. *sigh*  Our little saver.
She's been saving up her paychecks and gift money for a while, so combined with her Christmas money, she was able to get herself this sweet little number.
Oh my!

Go Emmy!  You can beat her!

Actually, no she can't.  That thing goes up to 15 mph!  :oO
Yeah, I'm thinking Daddy had a lot of say in this purchase, lol!

Evie's best friend already has one, so now they're unstoppable.  ;o)

:o)

An abandoned ponytail combined with a lot of static and helped Emily reveal her inner Tina Turner.
Lol!!

Matthew's class has been studying idioms (words that aren't meant to be taken literally, i.e. "it's raining cats and dogs".)  And I particularly liked this one that he did:
"I'm losing my mind."
And the little brain just jumps out of the dude's head!  Woosh!  Lol!

So Evelyn was working on a feature article about Davy Crockett one day...
Ahahaha!

Yeah, Evie had to draw or create her own picture for her article, so she got Emmy to model for her.
LOL!!  Yep, this was the money shot and featured on the front page of Evelyn's article.

And yes, of course she made a 100 on it.  ;oD

Emily asked me to draw her a cat, so I started to, and then she took over and drew the body, legs and a faint tail.  I told her to sign it so I could hang it up.
I said, "I see your E there, but what's this mountain shape down here?"  She said, "That's my name, see?  E, M.  I have an M too."  Awww, we've been talking about how her name is more than just an "E" lately, and I guess she's starting to get it!  E -M!  Go Emily!  :o)

On Saturday, January 18th, this girl right here got all dolled up to go cheer at the NBA New Orleans Pelicans game!

Evie's cheerleaders had been practicing their dance for weeks.

We all got to go, and it was so awesome!

And it was Military Appreciation Day too.

Yeah, you could say our seats were a little high up, haha.

But that's what the zoom on my camera is for!
They performed a dance medley before the game started.

And they did a wonderful job!

Follow that yellow arrow - There she is!
The Varsity and Dance Team performed with them too.  Go Evelyn!!
(I tried to upload the video, but it was too long.  Hopefully I can share it with y'all soon.)

We had a lot of fun.  :o)

Go Pelicans!
(Unfortunately, they lost, but we left at the end of the 3rd quarter, so it's all good.)  ;o)

:o)

Then it was time for ice cream!  What a great night!

Yep, Daddy's got that girl riding her bike.  She can push the pedals and make herself go for about 4 or 5 feet before she loses her momentum and just kinda gets stuck (or falls over!)  :o)

Oh, and then a few days later, Evie and I learned a new trick -
How to age paper!
She had to make her own Mayflower Compact, and be creative with it, so we googled how to make it look really old, and voila!  It was awesome!

We soaked it with tea and rubbed coffee grounds into and baked it in the oven too.
She was sooo happy with how it turned out.  :o)

Goodness, these kids loooove fruit.

Nom nom nom.

When I went to get the kids from school, I caught Joshua's band practicing outside.
He's near the middle of this pic, in line somewhere behind the tuba, but you can't see him.  Now that he can play, he's gotta learn how to march and play at the same time.  Eek!  First parade is this coming Sunday... :oD

Friday, January 24th was the Daddy Daughter Dance at school!
And our daughter was so excited!  (and just gorgeous.)  :o)

:o)

Emmy dressed up too, so she and I had a fashion show after Evelyn left.  ;o)
Daddy and she had a great time, with lots of coke, pizza, and dancing.  She said that it was the, "best night of my life!"  :oD

Emily wanted to go to the store with Daddy, so she got herself dressed...
And yes, of course he took her like that.  :oP

Those two are just like two peas in a pod sometimes.
Lol!  :oD

Serenading us with some Sweet Home Alabama.

And then we had Snow Days!  2 of them!
No school - it was like the weekend all over again.  :o)

"Can we play outside Mommy?  Please?!"
Yes, but only if you take a tauntaun.

Haha, but no, we didn't get any snow.  Just a whole bunch of ice and freezing rain.  The kids were kinda disappointed, and Emily tried to reason with me.

Emily: It could snow outside!
Me: No Emily, it's too warm here, I don't think we're going to get any snow.
Emily:  No, it's cold outside.  See, I have on long sleeves.  And the wind was blowing harder and harder, remember??  It's cold outside.
Hehe, she tried.  :o)

Oh - I have an awesome story to share:
A few nights ago, Emily was supposed to be in her bed while I was cleaning the kitchen, and she came in downstairs and told me, "My belly hurts, I think I need pink medicine."  This was the second time she had said something about her belly hurting, so I decided to give her a little Pepto to help her settle.  She kissed me and headed back to the stairs - when all of a sudden, she yelled and started crying!  I got to her and she was freaking out - holding her belly, hunched over, completely rigid, and shaking!  :o/  I said, "What's wrong??" She said, in a most terrified voice, "Something moved inside of me!" .....
So I ran her to the bathroom, where she relieved herself, but she was still shaking and crying and holding her body tight, and crying, "It was moving!" -- and then I realized that she thought something was in her belly!  Oh no!!  My poor girl...

So then we had a loooooong talk and I had to work to convince her that if was her food that had moved in her belly because she had to go poo-poo.  And she says, "But I didn't eat poo-poo!"  Oh my.  Lol!  So then, I ran and grabbed one of Matthew's handy books all about Anatomy, and showed her pictures and diagrams that explained what happens to food when we eat it.  I told her about how food moves through all the tubes in our bellies, and about how after our body gets all the vitamins and nutrients out of the food, it turns into poo-poo and that's what she felt.  Soon, that crazy girl was smiling, and laughing, and saying, "Oh! Okay!" over and over. Haha!

So now, she can't stop talking about it.  She finishes lunch and tells me, "I ate all my nuggets, but they're just in my stomach, it didn't turn into poo-poo yet."  And then she'll drink her water and say, "Oh - I can feel it moving in my tubes - watch!"  And she lifts her shirt and moves her belly in and out so I can see it.  Hahaha!  It has been most entertaining (especially to the other kids), and we're all so happy that Emily now understands her digestive system so well.  :oD

Anyhow, Joshua is getting ready to march in his first Mardi Gras Parade this Sunday, so that will be pretty awesome.  And we are all really enjoying watching the Olympics together, especially the Figure Skating! Emily now skates around the living room, doing jumps and twirls, and Evelyn asked if they give lessons anywhere.  :o)  And man, to my surprise, Joshua was watching them with us too, but after an hour or so, he turned to me and said, "Those skates have really sharp blades, right?" And I said yes, so he goes, "So if they fall, they could cut themselves, and like bleed all over the ice, right?"  And that's when I realized why he was watching!  Lol!  That boy was basically watching a Nascar race, waiting for the crash!  Hahaha, oh man, these children!!  But it's all good in the 'hood.  :o)

Hope everyone is doing well.  Have a Happy Valentine's Day!
Laters!
