Monday, July 23rd:
We visited Maw Maw Gregory at her house in Dayton.
Matthew brought along some 3-D puzzles to work on.
Vanessa spent the day with us, so the girls brought cards to play.
Emily had fun getting into all of Maw Maw's stuff, haha.
As soon as we got there, she attacked the baby doll sitting on the stool in the living room.
"Here Maw Maw, this baby is in my way."
"There - now I can sit here!" :o)
Later, we made a trip out to the cemetery to visit Paw Paw Gregory's grave.
So cool that we got to go out there. :o)
The girl fell asleep on the way back, so she got in a pretty good nap.
And Matthew finished his 3-D T-Rex. Check it out!
Not bad Matt-dog, not bad at all. ;o)
Maw Maw gave all the kids iced tea in mugs and little teacups, and they thought that was sooo cool.
Haha, nerds! But yeah, they really loved that tea and keep asking me when we can go back to Maw Maw's to have some more. :o)
Tuesday:
I have no pictures from Tuesday. And I'm really not sure what we did. Was that the day we went to the store? *shrugs shoulders* Oh well. :oP
Wednesday:
Emily found herself a new hat in Lita's room.
Okay, so it's a shower cap, not a hat, but she didn't care. :o)
Check out that Little Miss with her purse. Every time Epa goes out that door, Emily is right behind him. He's even had to sneak out a few times, hehe.
We spent the afternoon hanging out at Nana and Paw Paw's house!
Even though there was some rain in the area, we had plenty of time and sun to enjoy the water.
:o)
Paw Paw even gave Emily some swimming lessons!
And Joshua worked on making his splashes bigger. :o)
Check out that midget in floaties!
She really enjoyed the water. :o)
It was a little breezy and you could hear some thunder, so Matthew was not so sure about being outside at all.
But after threatening him with a little coaxing, he was just fine and having fun too. :o)
And while Paw Paw and Joshua practiced their circus trick...
Evelyn worked on her cannonball. :o)
And Emily hung out with her best friend Nick.
Haha, she loves those puppies. Later, we all went out to dinner and the kids got to see all their cousins too! :o)
We just chilled at the house most of the day while I packed for our trip on Friday.
Haha, Emily was stuck between the bike and the piano! Can you tell that she's trying really hard to get out so she can be in the picture? Hehe.
As soon as she was free, she ran over and climbed on top of the table and goes, "Cheeeezz!"
Haha, so I took a quick pic and then made her get down. :o)
Booger and Tia visited that afternoon, so we got to give Booger her birthday present.
Her gift has her name on it, and Evelyn helped pick it out and really, really wanted it to say "Booger" and not "Elizabeth", haha. I had to overrule her, but it was pretty cute. :o)
Friday:
We went with Aunt Jackie and our cousins Vanessa and Ava to the San Jacinto Monument!
My goodness! I forgot how big that thing is!!
Since we had discussed and visited the Alamo, we have talked a lot about the fight for Texas' Independence and, of course, the Battle of San Jacinto.
"We're ready for our history lesson!"
The kids got to sign the guest book inside the Museum.
:o)
"Ooh Mommy, take my picture with Sam Houston!"
I guess I didn't realize it, but Joshua would have taken Texas History in 4th grade if we lived here. Instead, he learned a lot about Louisiana's history, of course.
So yeah - that's our new mission: to make sure these midgets know ALL about their Texas heritage too. :o)
Starting with... Firearms!
Hahaha, just kidding, that was just the next picture. But they did like that part. :o)
Emily just kept trying to grab the toys they had in the displays, hehe.
The kids really enjoy the talks we've had about Texas' history, so they were pretty interested in all the museum stuff too.
:o)
We even got to go up to the observation deck!
"Mommy, I can't see our house from here!" Bahaha. ;o)
Then the kids made souvenir coins from pennies.
Joshua got General Sam Houston on his penny.
And Evelyn got the Monument. (I think I still have mine from when I visited the monument when I was little!)
Crank it Matthew! He got the Monument also.
Then the kids sat and watched the short film about the Battle at San Jacinto.
What a cool trip! :o) Too bad the Battleship was closed. Maybe we can visit that next time.
We packed our lunch for a picnic at the Monument, but got attacked by killer mosquitos! Seriously, they were trying to take us out! So we went to another park, closer to home and mosquito-less, to have our picnic. :o) The kids even got to play on the playground.
Joshua tried the hamster-wheel thingy, note that I said tried, hehe.
Emily really liked the little bridge on the Emily-size playground. And she's a pro at that slide business now - sliding and running around to do it again, over and over.
Matthew got to play photographer with Aunt Jackie's camera. :o)
Hi Evelyn!
That afternoon, we all piled into the truck to spend the weekend at the beach!
Well, not at the beach, at Aunt Becky's beach house at Crystal Beach, but same thing. :o)
There wasn't really time to do anything beach-y that evening.
So the kids just played lots of games with their cousin Zoey, which is their idea of a perfect evening. ;o)
Saturday:
Emily made herself at home, preferring to spend all of her time outside.
:o)
We had a great time hanging out at the beach. The kids discovered that they love boogie boards.
"Look Mommy, I'm surfing! I'm surfing!"
Joshua and Emily had fun digging in the sand together. But check that girl out, she would still only squat on the sand, not sit in it. So yeah, we eventually knocked her over and then she had no problem sitting in the sand, hehe.
And, at first, that's as close as she would get to the water.
Every time it came towards her, she would run the other way.
"Mommy, we need one of these!"
And dude - I look up and suddenly noticed that Evelyn had convinced Emily to sit really close to the water. So when the waves washed up and got her wet, she just giggled and laughed and realized just how much she liked it!
:o)
Later, Uncle Lonnie and Zoey worked on burying Joshua in the sand, hehe.
And Matthew took advantage of the situation and watered J's head for him.
:o)
Zoey made sure he had plenty of shade.
I told Chris that we just have to find a beach near our house, and maybe purchase a few boogie boards, as soon as possible, because that was a lot of fun!
Emily zonked out at the beach, so she took a little nap on the bench outside when we got back to the beach house.
Dude, beach life is rough. ;o)
And that evening, we had cupcakes to celebrate Booger's birthday.
Emily says, "Who cares about your birthday, I want some of that." Haha. ;o)
Sunday:
We headed back to Houston early on Sunday for church, and after breakfast at Maw Maw Hernandez's house, we spent the rest of the day just chillin' like villains.
Only pictures I had from Sunday - Emily eating sunflower seeds. :o)
And that's it! We are still hanging out in Houston for the next week or so, and plan to do some more family visiting. And also - we're going back to the beach house this weekend too! We love the beach! Woohoo!! :o) OH - and tomorrow is my Matt-dog's birthday! He's supposed to be turning 7, but my baby boy is not supposed to be turning 7. :o/ Oh well, guess I'll have to get over it, case of rum, case of rum.
Happy Birthday Matthew!! :o) We're just gonna give him a little mini-cake tomorrow, and then let him have a party with his friends when we get back to New Orleans, so it's all good. Hope everybody has an awesome week. I know we will! :o)
Laters!
