Jingle All the Way!

Hello!  We are busy wrapping, packing, and gearing up for our trip into Houston.  Now we just gotta make it through the home stretch - the last week of school before the holidays, woohoo!  So I will try to be brief (cause I'm supposed to be done wrapping by now, eek!)  ;o)  Here is our latest and greatest, starting November 20th, the week before Emily's birthday and Thanksgiving.

Because she did so well on another project, Evelyn was asked to prepare a lesson to share with her class on Christopher Columbus.  The girl went ALL out - power point presentation, some notes for them to take, and handouts for the kids with an Answer Key for the teacher.
She did an excellent job and when I saw her Social Studies teacher, she just went on and on about how wonderful Evelyn's lesson was and how impressed she was.  Go Evie!  :oD

For Parent Involvement Day, the school hosted a Thanksgiving Lunch for us to come share with the kids.  So Emmy and I got to have lunch 3 times that day, yay!

:o)

Joshua did a Geography project at school, and for the visual, he had students use frosting to decorate cookies with the different landscape features.  So he brought home the extra cookies and frosting and did some with the kids too.

His cookie has DW on it - because we were watching Doctor Who!  :oD

And dude -
Joshua was selected for Student of the Month!
Woohoo!

The principal called me and said that J was selected as the 6th grade Student of the Month because not only was he, "a hard working and diligent student who always turns in his assignments on time and participates in class", he also helped a fellow student who was on crutches get his lunch and get from class to class each day!  (Yes, they meant his best friend that he also helped on Halloween, hehe.)
:oD

Emmy missed out.  :oP

While the other grades pick about 4 kids per grade level, middle school only picks one student per grade, so it was a pretty big deal.
:oD

Go Joshua!!  So happy and proud of that boy!  :oD

On November 23rd, we cleared our calendar, silenced the phones, and stopped answering the door so we could all gather around the TV to watch the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special!
We called it "Doctor Who Day" - and it was an Epic event.  :o)

Turkey Romo says Gobble Gobble!

Reading 'Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving.  :o)

November 25!
Happy 3rd Birthday to our Emily!

And Happy Birthday to Daddy too!!

She was soooo happy it was her birthday, and only a little confused about why it wasn't time for her party yet (that we weren't having until Friday.)  Hehe.  :o)

Cake and presents and fudge - oh my!
What a great day.  :o)

The next day, we went to the community center on base and had a great time watching Monsters University.

And before we knew it - it was Turkey Day!
Lita, Maw Maw Gregory, and Booger came for a visit too!
And even though Daddy had to work all day (boo!) we prepared a grand feast to await him, and I made my first ham!  (And it was good!)  ;o)

The pie was the kids' favorite part, and we all enjoyed eating leftovers for the next few days.  :o)

Emily got a spiffy new Dallas Cowboys rocking chair for her birthday.

And she promptly moved it into the living room.

So she could watch the game, of course.
:o)

Evelyn gave me a sneak peek of the card she made for Daddy to give him at the birthday party.
It was really awesome.  :o)

And Emily was so excited because it was finally time for her party!
She had a Dora party.

And she said that Daddy was having a Minion party.
So we made Minion Twinkies!

It's the Map!

We played Pin the Tail on Swiper.

Since Joshua was a little older than the other kids, Daddy shook him upside down a few times, just to disorient him a little...

And then I consoled the big boy after he pinned the tail on the dead bolt.  Haha!
Oh what fun!  :o)

Happy Birthday!!
And yes, that is a candle stuck in a Minion Twinkie for Daddy.  :oD

We're so happy that our big baby girl had such a great birthday!  :o)

Yeah, that cat on the Ipad makes some really rude noises.  *rolls eyes*  ;o)

Evie scored some new headphones.
Lookin' good!  :o)

And then we finally got our Christmas decorations up!

Thank goodness I had this little elf to help me.
She is seriously loving all this Christmas stuff!

Evelyn got a certificate and a No Homework pass for her lesson on Christopher Columbus.  Woohoo!

Ho Ho Ho!

:oD

Time to cheer on those Eagles again!

:o)

Let's go Eagles!

On Friday, Dec. 6th, Joshua got to wear his new Student of the Month shirt with jeans (for free!)
He's getting so big and handsome.  :o)

And that Saturday, Evelyn was up bright and early to head out to the "Academic Games for Middle Schools" of the Greater New Orleans area.  (The majority of the middle schools here are 5th to 8th grade.)
She was competing in the Spelling and Science Competitions, and had been studying up for weeks and was really excited to go.  :o)

While she was away, J entertained us with some Christmas tunes he's practicing for a Performance later this week.
:o)

And can you believe it -- that girl came home with a medal!
Her team got First Place in Science!!
Oh my goodness - Evie was sooooooo happy!  :oD

With her fellow Science team members.

And with a couple of her friends.

And her school won First Place overall!  Wow!

So proud of that girl!  :oD

Daddy brought home ice cream to celebrate Evie's win, which of course made them all a little hyper-crazy.
Especially Emmy.  ;o)

We decorated the tree that Sunday.

I think this is the first year that Emily's really getting into all this Christmas cheer.  She loves all the Christmas colors, snowmen, lights, and she can't wait for Santa to get here.

The other kids are getting excited too, and are really looking forward to Christmas break and our trip to Houston.
:o)

Em helped me set up the Nativity scene and she kept asking, "Who's this guy?" and "Who's this baby?"  So I explained Christmas to her, and she helped me wrap up the Baby Jesus like a present because we have to wait for his birthday to unwrap him.
Now she can't wait for Jesus' birthday party!  :oD

Goodness, I love Christmas.

Ahahahaha!  :oD

Daddy brought home a giant box and made Emily a house out of it.

:o)

Yeah, we have a really creepy funny Elf that sits on our shelf.  Meh.  The kids, all of them, think it's the greatest thing.  I'm not the biggest fan, so they better hope nothing unfortunate happens to him...  ;o)
I gotta admit, having him crash the Lord of the Rings lego party wearing his own ring was pretty neat.  :oD

Emily got a big surprise in the mail the other day--

Despicable Me 2!
It was a gift for all of the kids from Booger, but Emily insists that it's hers, "But the kids can watch it too."  Hehe.  ;o)

And oh my - this is the greatest thing to ever happen:

Yes, we made one of those Elf Yourself videos and it is hilarious!
(I hope the link works.)  :oD

I got a couple pics of the kids the first time we showed the video to them:

Lol!  So awesome!!

Alright, I gotta get back to wrapping so I can start packing!
We look forward to being in Houston for the holidays and can't wait to see everybody!
:oD

Laters!
