What can I say, that girl likes to work out. :oD
Joshua spent the last week of April putting the finishing touches on his project.
:o)
And Evelyn had her first scrimmage on April 30th.
Let's hear it for this year's team: The Diamond Ducks!
Although Evie wasn't too sure about the name at first, ("How can anyone take us seriously with ducks on our socks??") she has grown to love their playful mascot. ;o)
And she got a hit her first time at bat!
Sorry for the blurry Emmy, she was enthusiastically cheering for her sister.
On May 2nd, it was time to turn in the finished product. Check it out!
He really enjoyed playing with all those cool Excel charts.
He was so happy to finally be done! Lol. :o)
Later that day, Evelyn had her first game.
She got 3 runs in on her first at-bat! But she didn't score, and they ended up losing. Boo. But she didn't care, cuz she got to hit the ball! :o)
Evie had her second game the very next day.
This girl loves her softball.
Go Evie, go!
And yes, this time she got to score! But they lost again. :o/
On our way to practice one day, we stopped to get Matthew some new glasses.
Or as Emily referred to the trip - "nap time".
He got new glasses last October, but he's 8... and he's a boy... so yeah, we took advantage of a great deal and got him a fresh pair of eyes. :oD
However, that boy is a creature of habit and got the exact same glasses again, but this time they're brown instead of black. "These glasses are just perfect for my face. See!" Haha, yes they are Matthew. :o)
Emily's always ready to help out at Evie's practices.
:o)
After taking out her pigtails one day, she asked, "Mom, do I have puppy dog ears again?"
Haha, yes you do!
Oh my, and remember how I said that Matthew was writing a paper on Napoleon (and how I never told him he was the 'bad guy' and all)? Well check out what little fool did -
He got a 100!
Teacher's comment: What a wonderful paper!
This was one of my favorite compositions to read.
Fantastic job!!
And here's a pic of the paper if you feel like hearing why Napoleon should get his own Tall Tale.
Man, he worked really hard, and we are so proud of our Matt-dog! :oD
Evelyn's class spent the week visiting STARBASE Academy, where she learned sooooo much about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, and got to do experiments every day, and even flew a virtual plane! Hence the pilot's hat:
:oD
She had a wonderful time and came home every day with great stories about her time there.
So happy that she got to go. :o)
Matthew saved up a few paychecks and expanded his collection of all things Minecraft with this Creeper backpack.
So weird... but so awesome! :o)
So, Joshua went to a sleepover at a friend's house and apparently he forgot to sleep while he was there.
He sat on the floor to watch a show with me for a few minutes, and yeah, he was out in 5 minutes.
An hour later...
And an hour after that...
AND another hour later...
Hahaha! Oh, my poor baby was so tired. No worries, he woke up soon after and partied the rest of the day away. :o)
On Sunday, May 11th, we got to go to the movies to see the new Captain America!
Happy Mother's Day to me!
Seriously. That movie was awesome. :oD
Emily acquired a new pet dragon.
"Come on, let's go home." ;o)
Matthew made me this beautifully-colored card.
With this awesome message on the inside.
Eye love you too!! ;o)
And then we got Taco Bell! My favorite. :oD
The girl loves having OJ and boiled eggs for breakfast.
:o)
And she's always ready to help Mom out with the shopping.
And then, of course, Joshua won FIRST PLACE at the Science Fair!!!
(He also found some weird glasses to wear...)
Man, he charged into the house soooo excitedly saying, "Guess what? Guess what?? I won."
Haha, he was sooooo happy!
We are so proud of this boy's incredible achievement!
Well done young padawan learner, well done. :oD
Chillin' like a villain in Academy.
Where she conned Daddy into buying her a new sprinkler! :o)
Evelyn proudly wore her Diamond Duck socks to school one day since it was a Game Day.
:oD
Matthew checked out this magazine at the library...
And they all loved looking through it! whaaaat? O.o
Lol. Crazy kids.
We're still visiting the library pretty frequently.
:o)
And this is Emily's latest submission for the coloring contest.
Time for another softball game!
It was a late afternoon game, so we took dinner with us.
She's always so serious out there... I love it. :o)
The coach quickly realized how determined Evelyn was to always do and play her best.
So guess who's now playing First Base.
:o)
She was walked home a couple of times, and while they didn't win, they didn't lose either - it was a tie! Yay! They didn't lose! ;oD
Evelyn was back out on that field again the next morning for a 9am game.
And dude - this game was a real nail-biter because this crazy girl right here - she stole home.
Twice.
Yep! This pic is just after she slid in the first time; I don't think that catcher had a clue! :o)
And then an inning later, she was back at 3rd base, eyeing that home plate...
And she went for it! And the catcher had the ball! But Evelyn slid under her glove and touched home first! And she said, "I didn't even know if I made it or not, so I looked up to the Ref and he went - SAFE! and I was so happy!!"
And they won!!
Go Diamond Ducks! :oD
Later that day, we went to a Books on Bases event where the kids did crafts and stuff.
We realized that Emily really loves using glue.
Evie proudly sported her dirt-covered sliding leg. :oD
And then they had a good time listening to stories.
Emily has gotten soooo much better about sitting still and listening.
:o)
A few days later, we tried out the new sprinkler.
What a great way to spend a hot day. :o)
Emily got to go to work with Daddy last week.
She was quite excited to have a lunchbox to take with her.
Yeah, they made it like maybe half a day before heading home because she didn't want to do anything besides ride the elevator over and over again.
Ha! :o)
Joshua had his Band Awards Ceremony and party on Wednesday, May 21st. And he was awarded with this shiny new medal to wear on his uniform next year!
BCA Eagle Marching Band 1st Year Member
We are so proud of the great saxophone player that he has become. :o)
And yes, he will be back next year for more!
Which reminds me... guess who else is planning to join the Band next year...
That's right - this cool girl right here!
After much thought and prayer, Evelyn has decided that, while she wants to keep going to gymnastics to keep up her physical fitness, she no longer wants to do cheerleading. :o1 Yeah, she loves it, but she just doesn't love it anymore... and she is really excited about trying to learn how to play an instrument! So yep - the BCA Eagle Band will have a brand new addition next year! And it will probably (but not 100% sure yet) be a new flute player! :oD
Whatever makes your boat float my girl. ;o)
Now that school's winding down, I've really enjoyed the empty evenings we've had lately due to little or no homework.
There's so much more time for stuff like this. :o)
"Look Mommy! It says Frozen!"
Haha, yeah it does! I guess I can thank Disney for teaching her how to read. ;o)
And just this past Thursday, the big girl took softball pics. :o)
So...
School will be out this coming Friday, May 30th. Woohoohoo!
And considering how very demanding and intense and just crazy this past school year has been, we decided that our midgets needed a true Celebration of the greatest magnitude to commemorate the year's completion...
So we're taking them to Disney World.
Haha - yes, for real!
The military is running an amazing special this summer and so yeah, we saw an opportunity and just jumped on it - Eeeeek!!
"Mommy, can we go to the castle tomorrow?"
Lol, yeah, she's been asking that every day since we told them. So yep, we're heading east on Sunday, June 1, and this time next week, we will be ensnared by the Great Mouse Trap of Doom (as I have been affectionately calling it to myself). ;o) We figured Emily is just old enough to really enjoy it all, and Joshua is just young enough not to be "too cool" for it yet. ;o)
And, as soon as we return, Chris will be making his Confirmation on Sunday, June 8th at St. Louis Cathedral! So yeah, we have soooo much fun up ahead! :oD I'll try to keep y'all updated with pics posted to Facebook and here when I can, and we hope that everyone gets a great start to their summer. Happy Memorial Day! We'll say hi to the Mouse for ya. ;o)
Wish us luck!
