It's an Awesome Life!
Hello! Yep, we're just livin' our awesome life here in sunny, but freakin' cold(!), Louisiana. Brrrrrr. I don't know how those kids play outside all day without losing a toe or something. Well, even though our boy had to deal with being sick for a couple of days, everybody ended up having a really great week. :o)
Monday:
Tuesday:
Wednesday:
Thursday:
Friday:
Saturday:
Sunday:
And that was our awesome week. Since they were out of school, and were all caught up on their school work, we had another wonderful, relaxing day on Monday too! :o) The kids are really excited about Halloween and they get to wear their costumes to school tomorrow. Joshua's play-off game is on Saturday, and today they're all dressing up as Saints (not the football team!) for the All-Saints Mass at church class. So yeah, it's all good in the 'hood. Hope everybody is doing great! :o)
Laters!
Monday:
It was Red Ribbon Week at school, so the kids got to wear different colored shirts everyday. (And I took group pictures every day!)
Monday was Red!
Yeah, this was the day that Joshua had to stay home from school because he had fever. He was really feeling okay, and said his throat was just a little sore, but he was still eating well and acting normal. Over the weekend, his fever just kept getting really high. So Emily and I took him to the doctor.
And yep, he had strep throat. :o/
Quick pic at the doctor's office where he and Emily both got stickers. :o)
Yeah, after picking up his medicine, we stopped and got snow cones, which he said made his throat feel soooo much better. And then I came home, stripped every bed in the house, and used up a whole can of Lysol! Lol, yep, gotta make sure those germs are gone. And I guess it worked because nobody else has gotten sick! (yet.) Yay!
That afternoon, Chris stayed home with Joshua while Emily and I went to see Evie cheer at her first volleyball game.
What a doll!
She had to miss her Sewing Club for the game, but she said she made sure the teacher knew that she could do twice as much work at the next meeting to catch up. :o)
Go Eagles!
Our little cheerleader just makes me smile so big. :oD
Matthew met up with us at Evie's game after his Computer Club, and later, Chris took Evie to her gymnastics class while I finished up the laundry and house purification.
Oh - and Matthew played with the Dora house again, I mean, uh, Matthew helped Emily play with the Dora house again. Hehehe. Yeah, laugh at your brother Emily! ;o) Hey, look at the bright side, at least he's playing with her and not fighting with her, right?
Tuesday:
Joshua was fever-free for almost 24 hours by Tuesday morning, so he said he wanted to go to school. Sounds good to me! :o)
Blue shirts!
Quick pic of Emily stylin' in her shades before we headed out the door.
Matthew and Emily have really become good friends lately. :o)
And yes, she's trying to bite the head off that Dora doll.
Joshua came home with just a little headache, but he made it through the day just fine.
After church school, Matthew worked on a new Timeline project he had to make for school.
He had to pick 7 events in his life and put them on a timeline with pictures. At first he said that part was easy, "I'm just going to use each one of my birthdays, so can you get me pictures from all of my birthdays?" Haha, uh, no Matthew, that's not gonna work. So he came up with a new, and much better, list. Yeah, Emily calmly watched her brother work and even tried to "help" him a few times. :o)
Wednesday:
Wear a shirt with all the Character Counts colors -Day.
So cute! And check out that little midget sticking her belly out to make sure that I can see her shirt too, hehe. :o)
Later that morning, Emily and I were invited to Joshua's English class to share reading time with him. I thought that meant we would go and listen to the kids read the book they've been working through, but no, it was the parents who were supposed to read to the kids. They were doing 3 chapters that day, and only 4 other parents were there, and only 2 of them were willing to read! So yeah, I ended up reading to Joshua's class while Emily wandered around, bringing me stuff she found on the floor, and trying to get my attention. Haha, it was really funny, and turned out just fine, but man, I haven't had to read in front of the class in a long time! But Joshua was so excited that I did and told me, "Mom, they clapped the most after you read, not the other moms." Lol! No they didn't, but it was really nice of him to say that. Love that boy. :o)
I didn't get a chance to take any pics while we were at the school, but here's Emily eating the same special snack that we took to Joshua.
I had the umbrella stroller in the house, and she decided it was much better for her baby doll than her little stroller, so yeah.
"Bye Ma-ma!" Hehe.
After their clubs, the kids came home and showed me that they all got banded for good behavior!
And because they were banded both times this quarter, they get a free dress-down day next week, and can wear whatever they want. Yay for good behavior! :o)
They get Eagle Bucks for good behavior too.
And Matthew got to spend his at school that day, so he lined up all his goodies for me to see. Go Matthew!
We took Evie to gymnastics that afternoon.
:o)
And Emily kept herself entertained with the 4 pairs of sunglasses she brought with her.
After Evie's class, we met up with Daddy for Joshua's football game!
Sooo, Joshua is still on the kick-off team.
Ready to roll!
But they also tried him out in a new position this game...
He played Center!
For real. I asked Chris, "Does he know what to do?" And Chris said, "I don't know, I think they showed him." :oO
Haha, I think they just don't know where they want him to play or what they want to do with him. :oP Oh well. But he was awesome!
Hike that ball J!
I have at least 10 more pictures of him just like this.
Hehe, I just thought it was really cool, and so did Joshua. You could see how excited he was to be part of the huddle, and clap and yell "Break!" Lol. Unfortunately, they lost, again. But I don't think Joshua really cared. :o)
Thursday:
Wear your favorite Jersey day!
Emily was too busy trying to zip up her jacket to take a picture, but man, those other kids were rocking those jerseys! :o)
Quick pic of the girl coloring, which she loves to do. She knows the names of different colors, but she doesn't know which one is which, so she'll hold up the red one and say, "Purple!" and I say, "No that's red." So she goes, "Red!" and starts coloring with it. And she does that with every color, hehe. Very cute.
After school, Matthew finished up his project due the next day.
It was so cool watching him because he had a plan and knew where he wanted every picture to go, and where he wanted to write the dates and everything. (By the way, many dates were just approximates, but don't tell him that!) ;o)
See? He was wearing his serious face. ;o)
And look! It turned out so great! Nice job Matt-dog!
He titled it himself too.
"Matthew's Awesome Life"
:o)
Friday:
There wasn't a special shirt to wear on Friday, so I didn't take a group picture, but as we were walking out the door, Evie reminded me that I didn't take their picture, haha, so yeah. :o)
And man, Emily was trying to figure out what was going on out there because it was really foggy.
Matthew was having a pumpkin party at school that day, and I had goodies to deliver to his classroom, so I stayed with the kids for breakfast.
So happy for waffle day!
Later, Emily and I had a tea party where she served me goldfish. :o)
Matthew had a a great pumpkin party and brought home a little pumpkin and seed, which he plans to plant so he can grow another one.
"And look Mommy - this is what we did with the pumpkins today!"
And he bowled it down the sidewalk. Haha, he said that they had to estimate how far their pumpkins would roll at their party.
And when we got home, he showed me his new shirt!
It's for Eagle Ambassadors, the group that he joined to help welcome new students to the school. He said that they had a meeting today and had a lot of snacks, but that he couldn't tell me what they talked about because they're supposed to keep it a secret. :oP
I told him it was just supposed to be a secret from other students, not me, but he said he wasn't sure about that, so he better not tell me.
Lol, oh well. But very cool shirt!
After dinner, we got ready to go to the Halloween Family Fun Night at the school.
What a cute Halloween princess! :o)
Well... a couple of the kids decided to wear their costumes.
:o) Yes, it's Black Widow! And Captain America!
Matthew decided to wait for Halloween to wear his costume, so I guess his and Emily's can still be a surprise, but yeah, it's not too hard to figure out what our midgets are being for Halloween this year. :oD
And oh goodness, as soon as we got there, we ran right over to this to get pictures.
Ahahaha! :oD
Lol! Can you tell how much Joshua did not want to do that? But I made him. Might as well make him do it while we still can and before he gets too cool. :oD
And it was a Bingo Night!
So all the kids got bingo cards and daubers, and we also got Halloween cookies and brownies to snack on.
And Emily ate skittles and collected lots of spider toys. :o)
And it was on! The kids were so funny to watch.
The caller would call out the number and the kids would all repeat it, and then carefully search their cards, telling me every single time that they got a number, haha! And then they would check each other's cards to make sure nobody missed any, even mine!
Yeah, we couldn't keep her away from the action for long.
And yes, she made a mess, and was a mess, but had a blast!
And Evelyn won!!!
She got a toy, some candy, and a $10 gift card to Target! Woohoo!
That was the only win we had all night, but it was sooo much fun. :o)
When we got home, the kids opened some awesome singing Halloween cards that they got from Booger. Then Evelyn and Emily sat down to listen to them.
Evie let Emily play her card a few times and then said, "Okay, it's my turn, let's sing this card!" and opened her card to start the music.
But Emily didn't understand that concept.
And she just kept opening her card in the middle of Evelyn's! And Evie was getting so frustrated! Lol, Evelyn wasn't really mad, but haha, it was sooo funny. :o)
Saturday:
Early morning picture of them midgets coloring together.
See? Like I said, best friends. ;o)
Yep, we were up early for Joshua's last game of the season.
And dude, winter came early, or the sun went into hiding, or something, because it was freezing out there!
We made sure to wear layers and bundle up well, but goodness, you would think that Seattle toughened us up, but nope. Being in constant 30 degree weather is a distant memory, and 54 degrees is the new frozen!
But that cold stuff didn't bother our J. He got out there and got to work!
Okay, so he's no longer playing Center, but he played on both offense and defense for 3 full quarters of the game!
He doesn't usually play that much, so I was worried, but Joshua was a warrior out there.
"Yeah, you better not get back up after that hit!"
The kids were such troopers, huddling together for warmth, hehe.
If the Hawks won this game, they would be in the play-offs! And they played soooo hard.
Emily eventually woke up and cheered her brother on.
"Go Josh-uh! Run! Run!"
And they won!!
Woohoo!! So with a 2-4 record, they're in the play-offs!!
(oh - if only it were that simple!) Haha! ;o)
Joshua and his whole team were so excited.
So we decided to take the kids out to celebrate.
And for his celebratory feast, Joshua chose IHOP.
Which everyone was happy about!
What better way is there to celebrate than with Cinn-a-stack pancakes! (Seriously, have you had them??)
After our feast, we went to pick up Matthew's glasses.
He was so excited that he wouldn't be still when the lady was trying to make sure they fit, and kept trying to look at himself in the mirror, haha.
That's better. Hehe, so cute! :o)
And, as if this day could get any better, we had a special dessert that night after church.
Halloween oreos!
I don't think I'd ever given Emily her own cup/saucer of milk to dip in before because she was so funny.
This pic was before she started dipping them, but she always pulls oreo cookies, well every cookie, apart to eat the middle. So after I showed her how to dip her cookie in the milk, she would dip it for a few seconds, and then try to pull it apart so she could eat the middle. But it was so soggy that the outside was just crumbling apart, and eventually, her hands and the table were just covered in soggy oreo because she would only eat the middles! Crazy girl. ;o)
Sunday:
Chris had work, so we spent a relaxing day at home. The kids spent a large part of the morning getting a jump start on their studying and homework for the week, which was awesome and made Mommy very happy. :oD So even though it was so cold, I let them spend the rest of the day outside.
Evie and her friends came in to warm up sometimes, but yeah, they had a great day doing whatever they wanted!
And Emily helped me make cupcakes!
I handed her the beater and she just looked at it, so I pushed it against her mouth so she could taste it.
And she realized just how good it tasted!
So of course...
Ahahaha! And then she handed it to me and said, "More!" So I gave her the other one too.
Yay for Halloween cupcakes!
The kids loved them. And when they came in for dinner, and for the day, the school called and said that classes were cancelled on Monday due to "unscheduled water pipe maintenance". So those midgets cheered and ran right back out the door to go play some more. :o)
