Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?

Because seriously, it is FROZEN outside again!  Brrrr.  ;o) Speaking of which - how many times have you seen the movie "Frozen"?  Me?  About 50 times since it came out a couple of weeks ago.  :oP  Yep, it's one of those movies that's so good, the kids have watched it over and over and over again.  I even caught myself singing one of the songs when they weren't around!  Lol.  But it's all good.  Any how, here's our last month!

Sometimes, you're fighting your sleep so hard, that your body just takes over and stops you mid-step.
:oD

Playing with a toy they got from Mardi Gras.

Evelyn lost another tooth!
And now she's got 2 more that are loose!  Eek!

The Sunday after the time change, we got a gorgeous view of the sunrise on our way to church.
:o)

Flowers?  For me?!  :oD

That girl is too sweet.

J was just chillin' at Evelyn's gymnastics class, with an awesome sunset going on in the background.  :o)

Emily gets paychecks just like the big kids now!  Every pay day, she would get pretty upset when the kids got paid, and she didn't.  We told her that if she started working and doing chores like the kids do, then we'd pay her too.  So for the next couple of weeks, she picked up after herself constantly: All the barbies, all the Dora house stuff, taking her dishes to the kitchen, she even asked if she could help me vacuum!  Haha.  And yep, she earned that money!  So we took her to the store so she could spend it!
She selected a shower for her barbies and some chocolates!  Go Emmy!  :o)

Evelyn was so excited to come home and do her homework once she realized that we got them a new computer.
With 3 of these midgets always having research to do and papers to type, we realized another was greatly needed.  And they love it! :oD

So, the kids had the "Read the Most form Coast to Coast" day where they compete to see who can get the most Accelerated Reader points.  And they did awesome!  All 3 of their classes won pizza parties for the most points per grade!  (And each of the midgets' points accounted for at least 1/2 of the points in each class, haha!)  Woohoo!  As far as individual grade winners, Matthew scored the top spot for 3rd grade!
And he got a Barnes and Noble gift card!  Yay!  :oD
(Evelyn and Joshua were both really close to the top scorers, but they did their best, so it's all good.)

Just because she's cute.  :o)

I guess that girl can just kinda fall asleep anywhere now.
Haha.  :o)

We got to visit Barnes and Noble the weekend of the 15th.  We all got new books, and Matthew got to use his gift card!  And yeah, that fool used it to buy a Minecraft accessory.  :oP
It's a flashlight designed as a Minecraft torch, so it's actually pretty neat.  And that boy does love that game... so it's not a book, but it's cool.  ;o)

Okay, I was painting her nails and suddenly she just got really heavy...
Lol, alright Em, this is getting outta hand!  ;o)

I was helping Evelyn study when I heard Emily and the boys singing along with one of her little microphone toys... so I decided to sneak up on them.
Lol - yep, both of them boys were singing into the Princess Sophia toy, and Joshua saw me just before I snapped this picture and dove under the coffee table!  Ahaha!  It was great!  And of course, it makes us exceedingly happy to see how much they love their sister.  :o)

Evelyn is still working hard on her tumblin' skillz.
She can even do a full middle split and front left split now!  Get it girl!

And our biggest news yet --- We got the girls new bunkbeds!!!
Yep, Emily has officially graduated to a twin size mattress and has (finally) moved out of our room and into Evelyn's room.  Woohoo!

We've been de-cluttering Evie's room for the past month and we finally got it all ready for Emmy to move in.
And they are both sooo happy about it!  Yay!

Now, of course, she still asks to sleep with us every. single. night.  Haha.  But we just keep telling her that big girls have to sleep in their big girl beds, and that usually helps her stay put until she falls asleep.

:oD

The kids finished their 3rd quarter at school, and they all survived.  Woohoo!  ;o)  (And I don't have the grades in front of me, but we now know that they all did very well!  Yay!)

And they just so happened to be out of school for the day on my birthday.  So yep, we decided to have a combined out-to-eat celebration at Olive Garden!

We discovered that Emily loves breadsticks, we all had a wonderful meal, and we even got a cookie cake for later that day.

Oh, and Emmy made me a cake too.
What a great day!  :oD

Too adorable not to share.  :o)

Evelyn was dressing down for school (I think it was for good behavior, but I can't remember.)  And she asked me to put her hair into 2 low pig tails.  So of course, Emily requested the same.
Hehe, our girls look awesome in their pig tails!

They all look awesome!  :oD

That weekend, we went to the movies and saw Mr. Peabody and Sherman.  And because of our love for all things Doctor Who and time travel, we all loved it!
And dude - they're making a Rio 2!  So we might have to see that too. :o)

A few days later, Joshua was working on his homework and showed me what he was learning about how Glyphs are created.

Then he had to make his own:
He made a fishing one!  Isn't that neat?  :o)

That girl is just too much sometimes, haha.

Aww, check it out - we're monkey buddies!
She saw that I was wearing my monkey night shirt, so she asked if she could change into her monkey night shirt too!  We're so cool.  ;oD

no comment...   :oP
(But ahahahahahaha!)

She did her puzzle all by herself.

And she can really rock this pair of glasses.

"Wait wait, let me pose..."
:oD

Evelyn has been on a mission to get as many Eagle Bucks as possible.  They're kind of a reward system where they're handed out for good behavior and the kids can buy stuff (treats, pencils, etc.).  Well, there is a giant Angry Birds pillow that Evelyn wants - and it costs 500 Eagle Bucks!  :oO
Evelyn has about 300, so I told her she doesn't have much time left before school is over.  However, her teachers are now aware of her pursuit, so one day after the classes bought stuff with their Bucks from the snack carts, her teacher took her aside quietly and said, "Here, take these, just make sure no one's name is on them.  And don't tell the others!"  Whaaaat???
Lol!  Yep, those teachers absolutely adore that girl, so they're trying to help her reach her goal!  Hahaha, they gave her almost 100 Bucks!  She was soooo happy when she came home from school that day.  Crazy girl.  :o)

While cleaning out Evie's closet, we found her old Rapunzel wig (Halloween 2008?) and Emily was all, "Tangled!  It's from Tangled!"
Lol, oh my.

On March 29th, Joshua performed the National Anthem at an event on base, and he had a great time.  He also came home with orange hair...
Hehe.  Well, remember the Father-Daughter Dance last month?  This month, the school had a Mother-Son Sock Hop. Yeah, a Sock Hop... (you could say I was a little less than enthusiastic about this.)  :oP  So I went to the boys and said, "Alright, would y'all like to go to this Sock Hop, cuz I will totally take you if you really want to..."  Matthew thought for a second and said, "Do we have to dance?"  I said no, he could just go for the snacks and hang with his friends.  And Joshua says, "No, I don't want to go, none of my friends are going."  And Matthew goes, "Yeah, is it okay if  we don't go?  Can we just go out for dinner together or something?  That would be soooo much better."  Yes!  I couldn't agree fast enough.  :oD

Yay for dinner!

So we had us a lovely Mother-Son lunch at Texas Roadhouse.

Where Joshua had a burger as big as his head.

And Matthew had a slightly smaller burger.
:oD  We had a great time! (Even though Joshua had orange hair.  :oP)

When we got home, we found our little artists hard at work.

:o)

On Sunday, March 30th, Chris celebrated his First Holy Communion.
Woohoohoo!

We are all so happy for him!

And this just might be the best First Communion pic ever.
:o)

Daddy's celebration restaurant of choice was Ihop.
Yay!

We are now looking forward to celebrating his Confirmation on June 8th at St. Louis Cathedral!

:o)

I take too many pictures of this squirrel.  :oP

But I can't help it!

We've started visiting the library on base much more often.
The first time we went for Toddler Story Time, but unfortunately, our toddler would not sit still!  She was squirmy and restless and kept trying to play with puzzles and just sooo not interested in the stories they were reading.  Meh.  But once story time was over, we sat together and she let me read her a few books that she picked out just fine!  She got to borrow a book, and a few days later I took the other midgets and they all got books.  Since then, we've been back 4 times to return and get more books!  (And we're going to story time again tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes.)  I've never wanted to do the library thing because I was always soooo bad about returning books, but I think we're getting the hang of it now.  ;o)

Joshua and Evelyn were scheduled to perform at the Pep Rally at school on Friday, April 4th, so Emily and I went to see them.
The Pep Rally was to get them geared up for all the LEAP testing they would be doing the next week.

And Matthew was there too!  Hi!

This is the only other picture I got of Joshua cuz that fool kept ducking down behind his music stand!  I guess that 6th grader is just too cool now to let his mom take pictures of him.  :oP
You know, he does look pretty cool.  ;o)

Okay, so Evelyn was performing as part of a 5th grade team.  They were singing a LEAP version of Michael Jackson's "Beat It", and they had to dress the part...
Hehe, doesn't she look great?!

Who knew that my chunky bracelets and guitar pick earrings would one day come in handy!  ;oD

Oh - and that's a Jack Daniels bandana around her head, but I made her swear not to unfold it, haha!
And oh my goodness - They. Were. Awesome!

They had different "gangs" dancing at each other and oh my, the teacher involvement was incredible!

Ahahaha!

They were competing against the 4th, 6th and 7th grades for the most School Spirit.
They eagerly awaited the results...

And then they won!  And promptly lost their minds!
Lol!  It was really wonderful to be there.  (But man, those kids are loud.)  Haha.  I have video, but I'm still having trouble getting those to load.  But yeah, it was a truly epic 5th grade moment.  :o)

A couple of pics from the library.
J's head is poking out from behind those books.  :o)

Emily had colored a picture while we there a few days earlier, and they had hung it up for their coloring contest!
Her's is the bunny in the middle.  :o)

Matthew's book of choice: Computer Programming for Kids and Other Beginners
Of course.  ;o)

After much preparation (and a lot of sweat, blood, and tears) ... (okay, not really, but it felt like it!) the kids finally took the standardized LEAP tests the week of April 7th through the 10th.
So yep - gotta have those wholesome home-cooked breakfasts to make sure their brains can work right each day!  :oD  Lol, all those fools were so ready to just go and do their best for those tests, so yeah, it's all good in the hood.

Did I mention that after testing each day, they got out early?  So yeah, lots of extra game and outdoor play ensued!  Yay!
And don't mind this fierce-looking fellow.  He's just preparing to do battle... in the HUNGER GAMES!  Lol.  Yep, we finally decided to start reading those books together, and we're almost done with the first one already.  And wow - I didn't realize how well-written these books were the first time I read them.  The kids and I have had some great conversations about figurative language, and ways that the author makes you feel what's happening, and lots of new vocabulary too.  So overall, it's been an excellent choice.  However, yes, the kids are gathering all of their friends together and engaging in their very own Hunger Games outside each day, and while there have been a few small injuries (their weapons are foam, but can still bruise!  Eek!), it has been most entertaining to watch.  :oD

And that's about it.  Joshua is working on his first serious science experiment about how catapults work, and while I've managed to talk him out of calling it, "Launch the Nukes!", we still don't have a title.  ;o) Matthew is writing a research paper on Napoleon Bonaparte and why he thinks he should be the subject of an American Tall Tale (I don't have the heart to tell him that Napoleon was kind of the villain.  :o1)  Evelyn is about to start reading The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe in her English class, so she's excited about that, and Emily is just... well, Emily.  :oD We're preparing for our trip into Houston this Sunday, and we can't wait to see everyone.  Happy Easter!!

Laters!
