Sharp Dressed J-Man

Hello!  Okey-dokey.  Wow, sorry this is sooo late, but it's Spring Break baby!  So we've been a little distracted.  Woohoo!!   ;o)  Okay, so this post covers last week, April 15th through April 21st.  Matthew still had testing every day, Joshua had his big JA Biztown trip, and then we spent a great weekend in Houston.  :o)

Monday:
April is "Month of the Military Child", so the kids got to wear purple shirts to school on April 15th to honor all military children.
Matthew chose not to participate ("I am not wearing a purple shirt to school." :oP) but Joshua wanted to, so we found him this snazzy maroon shirt (which yes, is totally a shade of purple!)  :o)

Emmy says, I love these guys sooo much!
Yay for the military midgets!  :o)

And yay for bananas!
Emily realized that she likes bananas.  Like a whole lot.  And every time we give her one, she goes, "Oooh oooh Aaah aaah!  I mon-mon."  Which means monkey, hehe.  :o)

Check out what this girl made in Sewing Club!
Yes, Evie made that apron!  Wow!

She's been working on it for a while, using the sewing machine, and she was sooo happy to bring it home and show everybody.  She said that she was the first one to finish, so now she's going to help everyone else finish their aprons.  :o)
When she walked in the door, she said, "Okay Mommy, now you just have to teach me how to cook."  Lol.  ;o)

And in computer club, Joshua found a website that lets you design your own Pokemon cards.
So of course he said to himself, "Hmmm... there really aren't enough Pokemon cards for hobbits, I think I'll create one!"

:o)
Bilbo Baggins - Attacks include "The Ring" and "Sting" (Bilbo's sword).  Haha!  Excellent job my J.  :oD

Later that afternoon, Evelyn had batting practice, so she had to miss her gymnastics, but she was okay with that.  :o)

Tuesday:
It was Evelyn's teacher's birthday, and her teacher loves chocolate, so she asked me to buy her a big chocolate bar and she made her this cute card to go with it.
She's such a sweet girl.  :o)

Emily decided that she was a ghost.
"Look, I ghost.  Boooo!"
:o)

Hehe, yeah, she ran into a few walls that day.

Matthew brought home some classwork to be signed and returned, and this one with "Amazing Work!" written across it caught my eye.
It's a vocabulary worksheet that goes along with the book they're studying in Reading, "My Father and the Dragon."  The words he had to review here were trespassing, afoot, snarl, occupy, and summon... wow - I knew they were keeping him challenged, but I guess I didn't realize that his reading group is actually doing 4th grade work!  Go school!
And go Matt-dog!  :o)

Quick pic on our way out the door to church class.
Hehe, sorry J's eyes are closed, Evie's were closed in the other one. :oP

And when they got home, Emily roped Joshua into helping her put her kitty-cat puzzle together, "Please Joshua, please!"
Man, that "please!" works every time.

We've read the Goodnight Moon book many times, but now she insists on taking it to bed with her and "re-reading" it to herself.
She ended up only insisting for 3 nights.  Now, she just makes sure the book is in the bed with her before getting comfy.  :o)

Wednesday:
Emily likes playing with Evie's old magnetic paper dolls.
"Tada!"  Hehe, yeah, that's what she said when she got the princess all dressed up. :o)

Evelyn didn't have Cheer practice that day, and Joshua's Boys' Club wasn't meeting either, so only Matthew was staying after school for his Computer club.  So, those big kids asked me if they could walk home from school by themselves... and well, we live all of 4 or 5 blocks from the school, and all the other kids do it (even much younger ones!), and Matthew wouldn't be with them, and we are on a freakin' base...
so I said yes!  Eek!

I gave them very specific rules, "Walk together and don't leave each other behind, or you'll never do this again.  Watch out for each other and look both ways before crossing the street, or you'll never do this again."  Don't fight, or you'll never do this again!  Well, they made it home!
And yes, I was waiting anxiously at the door.  Hehe, but look at them!  Walking all calm and cool and together across the playground.

And check out those smiles on their faces-
Lol, yeah, they really liked walking home by themselves.  Hmmm, I just don't know if it's something I'm ready for, haha.  Maybe next year.... maybe.  ;o)

And look - Joshua's Pokemon card that he bought from ebay came in the mail.
:o)

Yeah, it's in some ancient Pokemon language, haha.  :oP
But he's so happy that he now has THE most powerful card!  ;o)

Evie had softball practice that evening, and look - she got her jersey!
I think that Hot Pink color is starting to grow on her.  :o)

The boys kept busy while Evie was at practice, going at each other over the foosball table.  For real - see how one of them is trying to change the score, but the other one is trying to stop him because he says it wasn't a 'fair' point, all while I'm trying to take their picture?
Competitive midgets, we have.  :oP

Evie got some more work done on a Nutritious Foods project she's been working on.  For a lesson in Health, she had to design a full day's menu that met all of the correct nutrition requirements.  They were allowed to do the project however they wanted, even just listing the menu on notebook paper, but (of course) our little overachiever said she wanted to find pictures of food and put them on plates like real meals!  :o)
She's lucky I got that free subscription to Rachel Ray's Food magazine last year.  ;oD

And just before bedtime, Evelyn and Emily were playing together, and then Emily rode around the house on her puppy dog like a horse.

"Emily, is that your horsey?  Does it go Neeeeigh?"
"No, it's puppy dog!  Goes ruff ruff ruff!"
Yes, that's her barking face.  :o)

Thursday:
Check out that sharp dressed J-man!
Woohoo! - that boy was looking good and all ready to go to work at JA Biztown!

And a full length pic too.
Just cuz he looks so cute and, more importantly, so professional.  :o)

And I made sure to put his work name on his bag lunch.
Mr. Joshua Nutt  ;o)

Daddy was on his way out the door, so as he was telling the kids bye, he shook Joshua's hand and said, "Alright, have a great day at work, and don't get fired!"  Lol!  Good advice.  ;o)
And Matthew sprang out of bed that morning screaming, "It's the LAST day of testing!  Woohoo!!"  And when I picked him up, again he was screaming, "Testing is OVER!  Woohooooo!!"  Haha, that boy.  :o)

Well, needless to say, Joshua had a great time on his business trip.  As a television broadcaster, he interviewed people, performed ads for their advertisers, and held a televised dance competition.  He put his paycheck in the bank, got some cash out, and spent it on "stuff".  When I asked what "stuff", he said, "Well, I went to the Animal Shelter and adopted a cat, I bought some chips at the grocery store, and I visited the arcade too!"  Hehe.  Oh - and he even "donated blood" at the blood center.
Wearing his bandage after "donating".  :o)
So glad our little man had such a fun day learning about money!

Evie went to gymnastics that afternoon, and since she was the only one there for a make-up class, they decided to let her participate in the Acro Training class, which is the acrobatics class another level up from her one-on-one classes.  And man, did they really challenge her!
Well... that's a new stretch.  Lol!

Yeah, it's still one on one and they do much more intense training, usually prepping for competitions and stuff.

Emily had fun with her little friend again, running around and then sharing her stickers with her.  :o)

Check this out, they have her wear ankle weights and then she has to hold herself up with her hands on the end of the balance beam, and then she has to lift her legs over and over!  :oO
Dude - now that's some serious business!

She also had to use these wooden supports to hold herself up for a few seconds at a time.

And then she had to hold herself up and do leg lifts again!
And she had soooo much fun doing all this extra hard stuff!  :o)
She was really excited when we left, and kept asking me, "Did you see me?  Did you see me??"  Haha.  She was also sooo worn out and ready for bed later that night.  ;o)

Haha, she couldn't stop laughing at her friend.

And when we got home, Evie put the final touches on her project.
She even included healthy snacks of trail mix and a smoothie.  :o)
Great job Evelyn!

Friday:
Emily had her dancing shoes on bright and early!
Okay, well, they were her little batman doll's shoes, and they were on her fingers, but she still had them dancing!  ;o)

The kids had a half day of school, so we were all packed up and ready to go as soon as they got out for our quick trip to Houston.
Yeah, she passed out before we could even get on the road!  :oP

During the trip, Matthew handed me this from the backseat and said, "Here Mom, work your magic!"
Haha, I couldn't believe he actually said that!  Too funny!
And yes... I did work my magic, cuz that's what us moms are for, right?  ;o)

We got safely into town around 6 or so and went to Nana and Paw Paw's house.  And check out this piece of pottery that Evelyn made-
She brought it home from school that day, and since we left straight from the school, it came with us.  She plans to use it as a jewelry holder in her room.  :o)

Later, Daddy terrorized Matthew by hoisting him up in the air.
Haha, yeah, our little scaredy-cat wanted Daddy to lift him up until Daddy actually started lifting him up, and then he started screaming and fighting, but no worries - he was laughing the whole time and said he was "sort of" happy he got to touch the ceiling, hehe.  ;o)

And then Nana wowed the kids with her Bingo playing skillz on the ipad!
Seriously, they all were very eager to help her win, lol!  :o)

Saturday:
We visited with Lita and Epa the next morning.
Maw Maw Gregory and Emily had a fun time trying to build block towers while Joshua enjoyed a heaping bowl of Reese's Puffs. :o)

And then Emily went to Lita's Nail & Salon to get her nails painted.  :o)

The kids tried to play a new lego board game called Heroica, but it took them almost an hour just to set up all the little lego pieces, haha.  But they had fun and (surprisingly) worked together!  :o)

The midgets spent the day at Nana and Paw Paw's house playing lots of Bingo and other games.  Evelyn said her favorite part of the day was the chips and cheese they got to snack on.  :o)

Then we all went out for a big giant family dinner!  Yay!
Emily was especially impressed with the ice cream.

Daddy decided she needed some help.
Haha!

Booger brought the kids rosaries back from Cozumel, so Deacon Mike happily blessed them for us.
:o)

Sunday:
We went to church early that morning, and got to see lots of family peoples, yay!  But Daddy had work early on Monday morning, so we got right back on the road after Mass.
Once we got going, we told Emily, "Okay, now go to sleep Emily!"  So this is her "closing her eyes" and pretending to go to sleep.

And 15 minutes later...
Haha, works every time.

Aww, I guess Evelyn was pretending to go to sleep too!
:o)

We made it home safely just in time for dinner.
We ordered pizza, so Emily waited anxiously by the door for its arrival.  :o)

And that was our week!  (I can't believe I remembered it so well!  Haha.) Like I said, the kids have been out of school for Spring Break this week, so we've been busy, but having so much fun.  :o)  I hope to get the next blog post up on time, but this whole "being on a break" thing has really thrown me off, haha.  So we shall see.  Hope everyone's having a great weekend!  :o)

Laters!
